ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS 
Drift or runoff may aaversely affect non-t2rget plants. Drift 
and runoff may be hazardous to aquatic organisms in 
ne:ghboring areas. Dc not apply directly :0 water, or to areas 
where surface water is present or to jnte~jdaJ areas below 
the Mean high water rl""ark. Do not apply when weather 
cO'icitions favor drift from areas treated. Do not contaminate 
water when disposing of equipment washwaters.

adjacent desirable piants. EPIC has properties thai may 
resuft in ground water contamination. Use of EPIC in areas 
where soils are permeable or coarse and groundwater is

high potential for runoff irlto surface water (primarily via 
dissolution in runoff water), for several weeks after 
application. These include poorly draining or wet soils with 
readily visible slopes toward adjacent surface waters, 
frequently flooded areas, areas over-laying extremely 
shallow ground water, areas with in-field canals or drtd1es 
that drain to surface water, areas not separated hom 
adjacent surface waters with vegetated fiUer strips and areas 
over-laying tile drainage systems that drain to surface water. 
In fields having sands, loamy sands and sandy loam soils, 
special care shouJd be taken n01 to over-irrigate since 
substantial over-irrjgation promotes the leaching of EPIC. 
This pesticide is toxic to some plants at very low 
concentrations. Non-target plants may be adversely affected 
if the pesticide is allowed to drift from areas of application. 
Exposure to isoxaflutole residues may injure or kill 
susceptible plants. To prevent damage to crops and other 
desirable plants, read and follow all directions and 
precautions on this label before using. 
This product may not be mixed or loaded within 50 feet of 
any wells (including abandoned wells and drainage wells), 
sink holes, perennial or intermittent streams and rivers, and 
natural or impounded lakes and reservoirs. This setback 
does not apply to properly capped or plugged abandoned 
wells and does not apply to impervious pad or properly diked 
mixing I loading areas. 
Operations that involve mixing, loading, rinsing, or washing 
of this product into or from pesticide handling or application 
equipment or containers within SO feet of any wefl are 
prohibited unless conducted on an imperviOUS pad 
constructed to withstand the weight of the heaviest load that 
may be positioned on or moved across the pad. Such a pad 
shall be designed and maintained to contain any product 
spills or equipment leaks, container or equipment rinse or 
washwater, and rainwater that may fall on the pad. Surface 
water shall not be allowed to either !low over or from the 
pad, whid1 means tha pad most be self contained. The pad 
shall be sloped to facilitate material removal. An unroofed 
pad shall be of sufficient capacity to contain at a minimum 
110% of the capacity of the largest pesticide container or 
application equipment on the pad. A pad that is covered by a 
roof of sufficient size to completely exclude precipitation from 
contact with the pad shall have a minimum containment 
capacity of 100% of the capacity of the largest pesticide 
container or application equipment on the pad. Containment 
capacities as described above snatl be maintained at all 
times_ The above speCific minimum containment capacities 
do not apply to vehicles when delivering pesticide shipments 
to the mixing !Ioading sUe. States may have in effect 
additional requirements regarding wellhead setbacks and 
operational containment. 
This product must be used in a manner which will prevent 
back siphoning in wells, spills or improper disposal of excess 
pesticide, spray mixtures or nnsates.

It is a violation of Federal law to use this product in a 
manner inconsistent with its labeling

AGRICULTURAL USE REOUIREMENTS 
Use this product only in accordance with its labeling and 
with the Worker Protection Standard, 40 CFR part 170. 
This Standard contains requirements for the protection of 
agricuftural workers on farms. forests, nurseries, ard 
greenhouses, and handlers 01 agricultural pestcide$. It 
contains requirements for training, decontamrnation, 
notification, and emergency as5ictance. It al&O contains 
specifIC instructions and exceptions pertaining to the / 
statements on this label about personal protective / 
equipment (PPE), and restrided-efltry interval. The 
requirements in this box only apply to uses of this pewue! 
that are covered by the Worker Protection Standard.

GENERAL INFORMATION 
EPIC is a selective herbicide for control of important annual 
grasses and broadleaf weeds in field corn and corn grown 
for suage. EPIC i. formulaled as a 58 % water dispersible 
granule (OF). EPIC may be used in either conventional, 
conservation or no·tillage crop management systems and 
may be applied preplant surface, preplant incorporated (mix 
into the top 1 to 2 inch layer of soil) and preemergence. Do 
not apply after corn emergence or crop injury may occur 
EPIC will provide its most effective weed control when 
applied and subsequently moved into the soil by rainfall, 
sprinkler irrigation or mechanical tillage prior to weed 
emergence. EPIC has multiple modes of actions: inhibition of 
protein synthesis/cell dMsion and inhibition of enzymes that 
are essential to the protection of chlorophyll in plant leaves. 
EPIC may be applied using either watei or sprayable grade 
fluid fertilizer as a liquid carrier or be impregnated on dry 
bulk fertilizer. 
EPIC may be applied either a/one or in tank mix combination 
with additional herbicides_ When tank mixing. always 
observe all precautionary statements and limitations O;'l 
labeling of all products. 
EPIC is effective in controlling triazir.,a. or ALS..resistant 
populations of weed species. 
GENERAL USE RESTRICTIONS 
For use in the states of Arkansas. Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, 
Iowa. Kansas, Kentucky. Missouri. Montana, Nebraska,

Use in coarse textured soils with 8 shallow water table: 
In the states of KS, KY, MO, and TN, if the water table (ie, 
level of saturalion) is less than 25 leet below the ground 
surface, do not use on loamy sand or sand surface son and 
subsoils with an average organic metter (in the upper 12 
inches) of less than 2% by weight. 
In the states of CO, IA, IL, IN, MT, NO, 00, SO, and WY if 
the water table (ie, level of saturation) is less than 25 feet 
below the ground surface, do not use on sandy loam. loamy 
sand or sand surface soils and !iiubscils with an average 
organic matter (in the upper 12 inches) of less than 2% by 
weight. 
Labeled crops: EPIC is intended for use on field corn or 
com grown for silage. Do not use on popcorn. sweetcorn. 
high oil corn hybrids or com grov..," for seed. 
Corn hybrids vary in their response to EPIC. Consult your 
seed corn company andlor your local Bayer representative 
for advice on varleties before applying EPIC. If the tolerance 
of a com hybrHj is not known, apply EPIC to a small area to 
first determine if this hybrid is tolerant prior to spraying large 
scale acreages of that hybrid. 
Plantlng depth: Com seed should be planted a minimum of 
1-1/2 inches deep and must be compfetety covered wrth soil 
or reduced crop stand or injury may occur. 
Application: Apply EPiC only with ground equipment 00 
not apply this product using aerial appljcation equipment 00 
not apply this product through any type of irrigation system 
nor use ftood irrigation for activation or incorporation.

Do not exceed maximum \abelet1 rate for soil type. Spray 
overlaps produce areas 01 over application which 
increase the potential for crop damage. 
Do not make more than one app1ication of EPIC per season. 
If soli pH is:> 7.5 on coarse textured soils, do not use EPIC. 
On medium textured soils, !f pH is > 7.5 and organic matter 
content is < 2.5% by weight, llse of EPIC is not 
recommended. 
Effect of adverse weather: FoHowir:g an application of 
EPIC, extended periods of cool/cold. wet conditions 
(cool/cold daytime\nighttime temperatures, saturated soil 
conditions, recurring rainfall events, etc.) during com seed 
getmination andlor early ClOp devebpment perrod may result 
in temporary crop injury. Injury symptoms may appear as 
leaf tissue bleaching (whitening) andior crop stunting. Com 
plants usualty recover from this injury without affecting yield. 
Effeet ot varlatM sons on use rate: The proper use rate 
of EPIC is affected by several soil factors. including soil 
texture, organic matter, and soil pH. Soils which contain 
variations in one or more of these factors in a gwen area are 
tenned variable soils and may be more likely to incur 
localized com injuty symptoms from an application of EPIC, 
especially in those focalized ares cc1taining a more COarse 
soil texture, a tower organK:. matter and/or a higher pH 
(alkaline/calcareous) soil iI',an other areas of the same field. 
The user is responsible for selecting the rate of EPIC that is 
appropriate for all soils in the area of apptication. 
In the event of crop failure: If the com crop treated with 
EPIC is lost. only corn may be replanted immediately. QQ 
oot make a second appJicatJon of EPIC. 
RATE SELECTION/SOIL TEXTURE 
The recommended rates of EPIC are defined by texture and 
organic matter content of the soil being treated. Unless a 
specffic soil texture is mentioned, rate tables tllroughout this 
label refer to the following three soil texture groups: coarse, 
medium and fine. If you are not sure how to classify your 
soil, contact your Bayer Corporation representative, the 
Cooperative Extension Service or O!her knowiedgeable 
person. The following chM includes a complete listing of soil 
textures included in each of the soil textures grouping:

EPIC is a dry flowable herbicide that must be mixed in water 
Of sprayabte ftuid fertilizer. EPIC can be directly added to 
waler, or 2E1-O-0 or 32-0.j) liquid fertilizers. Compatibility of 
EPIC wijh ijs labeled tank mix prod":::!s in other liquid 
carriers should always be predetermined prior to spraying. 
Refer to the COMPATIBILITY TEST (Appendix I) of this label 
to determine product compatibility in fluid carriers. 
Before mixing EPIC and its labeled tank mixtures, examine 
the spray equipment making sura n is completely free of rust 
and corrosion. Be sure the equipment i. free 01 any residues 
trom previously used pesticides. Flush the lines with clean

water or recommended d~tergents after the last application. 
Use an approved method for disposing of rinsate. 
For optimal spray tank mixing convenience and efficiency, 
EPIC is recommended to be aooed to the spray tank via an 
eductor system. 
The proper mixing seQuence for EPiC and recommended 
tank mixtures with the appropriate liquid camer is as follows: 
i. Fill the spray tank c~ nurse tank 1/4 full with the 
appropriate liquid carrier. 
2. Start the recirc:.Jlat!on and agrtation system and continue 
throughout mixing and appltcation. 
3. If the compatibility test indicates the need of a 
compatibility agent, add the recommended amount to the 
spray tank 
4. If ammonium sutfate is to be used, add it now. 
S. Next add the recorcmendec quantity of EPIC through the 
eductor system or to the spray tank !slowly add EPIC if 
water or sprayable grade nit~ogen fertilizers (28-0-0, 
32·0-0) are the carrters; for other sprayable grade 
fertilizers fir.st check compatibility and then either mix 
directly or preslurry EPIC first in water depending on the 
results of the compatibility test]. 
6. If tank mixing WIth wettable powders or other dry ftowable 
products, in water as the carrier, they may be added now. 
If tank-mixing these products in a sprayable grade 
fertilizer carrier, first preslurry these products with water if 
Indicated on their Pfoductlabel or by the results of the 
compatibility test and then slowly add them to the 
sprayable grade fe.1ilizer canier. 
7. If tank mixing with suspension concentrates, add the 
Pfoducts to the spray tank. 
8. If tank mixing with emulsifiable concentrates, add the 
products to the spray tank. 
9. If tank mixing with Gramoxone Extra®, a gtyphosate­
containing product, Touchdown® or other soluble 
concentrates. add the products to the spray tank. 
10. If mixing any additional spray adjuvants in the mixture, 
add them after aU other products have been mixed. 
11. Fiil the spray tank to the desired level with the 
appropriate liquid carrier. 
12. Continue agitation d.Jring transport and application until 
he spray tank is err·pty. 
EPIC and aU regIstered mixtures should be kept agitated 
once mixed and then sprayed out immediately. 00 not allow 
mixtl.;res to stand for p#olonged periods of time. Water 
qualrty, pH, temperatu~e and/or other components of the 
mix:ure may affect hew long the mixture may stand before 
app:ication. 
Sprayer Cleanup 
To avoid injury or exposure to non-target crops, thoroughly 
clean all mixing and spray equipment, including pumps, 
nozzles, lines and scree~, with a good quality tank cleaner, 
on an approved rinse pad or on a field site where an 
approved crop is grown.

APPLICATION tNFORM~TtON 
SPRAYER APPLICATION 
Ground Broadcast Treatment: Accurately calibrate the 
sprayer prior to mixing the herbicide treatments. Apply EPIC 
and the labeled tank mixtures in a minimum of 10 gallons of 
total spray volume per acre using broadcast boom 
equipment. Application mllSt be made at a sufficient spray 
pressure and volume to provide accurate and uniform 
application of spray particles to a given area without C8USil"lg 
spray drift to non-target areas. If mixed with other labeled 
herbicides, the spray volume may be no less than the 
minimum volume recommended by any tank mix product 
used or 10 gallons, whichever is greater. Use appropriately 
sized mesh screens and in-line strainers. Agitate thoroughly 
before and during application with either bypass or 
mechanical agitation. Rinse the sprayer thoroughly with 
clean water immediately after each use. 
APPLICATION METHODS AND TIMINGS 
EPIC may be applied either alone or in recommended tank 
mixtures in conventional, conservation or no-till crop 
management systems. Applications may be made preplant 
surface, preplant incorporated or preemergence. Do not 
make more than one application of EPIC per use season. 00 
not apply when environmental conditions favor drift. 
Preplant Surface: EPIC alone or as a recommended tank 
mixture may be applied as a broadcast spray up to 21 days 
before planting com. EPIC may be apptied up to 30 days 
prior to planting when used in conjunction with an 
appropriate planned sequential herbicide application. If 
possible, do not move treated soil out of the row or move 
untreated soil to the soil surface during planting, since weed 
control may be reduced. 
Preplant Incorporation: Apply EPIC alone or in combinaHon 
with recommended tank mixes as a broadcast spray and 
incorporate into the upper 1 to 2 inches of the soil surface up 
to 21 days before planting. EPIC may be applied up to 30 
days prior to planting when used in conjunction with an 
appropriate planned sequential herbicide application. Avotd 
deep incorporation since reduced weed control and/or crop 
injury may resutt. Incorporate with impkmlents which provide 
uniform. shal/ow incorporation (Example- finishing disk, 
harrow, rol/ing cuijivator, field cUijivator. etc.) 
Preemergence: EPIC alone and its recommended tank 
mixes may be applied to the soli surface during planting 
(behind the planter after furrow dosure) or after planting of 
the crop but prior to weed or crop emergence. Ensure that 
the seed furrow is dosed prior to herbicide application or 
crop injury may resuji. Rainfall and lor overhead sprinkler 
irrigation is necessari to move EPfC into the upper soif 
surface where weed seeds germinate. Dry weather 
conditions following application may reduce weed control. if 
adequate moisture is flot received within 7 to 10 days after 
application and weeds begin to emerge from the soil, a ligr·t 
rotary hoeing or shallow incorporation (no deeper than 1/2 
inch deep) will improve performance and minimize crop 
damage. Excessive rainfall or irrigation after application may 
reduce weed control and/or increase crop damage. 
Preplant I Preemergence Burndown: If weeds are 
present at the time of treatment, a tank-mixture of EPIC with 
crop oil concentrate or methylated seed oil is recommended 
for burndown control of labeled weeds less than 3 inches in 
height. If weeds greater than 3 inches in height or weeds

not controlled by EPIC ale present, the addijion of a 
nonselective herbicide such as Gramoxone Extra, 
Touchdown or a glyphosate-containing product is 
recommended. For additional braodleaf weed control, a 
recommended formulation of 2.4·D may also be added. If 
giant ragweed or Pennsylvania smartweed are present at 
time of application, the addition of atrazine will improve 
control. Observe directions for use, precautions and 
restrictions on the labels of all products selected for a 
burndown tank.-mixture. Burndown tank-mixtures containing 
atrazine will result in the burndown of labeled broad leaf 
weeds less than 6 inches in height.

EPIC applied at recommended dosages and application 
timings will control many annual grasses and broadleaf 
weeds, including triazine and AlS resistant weed 
populations.

APPENDIX I 
COMPATIBILITY TEST 
A compatibility test is highly recommended for all 
applicat,ons with liquid fertilizers. Pnor to mixing products in 
the spray tank, small quantities of each product can be 
mixed in proportionate quantities 10 evaluate compatibilities, 
The following test assumes a spray volume of 25 gallons per 
acre, If other spray volumes are to be used, adjust the 
appropriate amounts of ingredients. To ched<. for 
compatibility, use the following procedure: 
1. Add two inches of the liquid carrier (water or liquid 
ferti~jzer) to a one-quart jar fitted with a tight lid. 
2. Add the appropriate amount of herbicide. If more than one 
product is used, the recommended mix sequence is the 
dry herbicide first, flowables next and emulsified 
concentrates last, For dry herbicides, add 1-112 level 
teaspoons/pound/acre use rate and for liquids add 112 
teaspoon/pint/acre use rate. 
3. Add one pint of the liquid carrier (water or liquid fertilizer) 
to the jar. Place the lid on the jar and gently shake the jar 
for one minute. Place the jar on a leve! surface and let it 
stand for 30 minutes. 
4. Reagltate the mixture and observe for signs of phase 
separation. flakes. particles, gels, precipTtates, etc., that 
wOuld prevent the mixture from being a sprayable solution. 
If none of these conditions occur, the mix is compatible. 
5. If incompatible, use of a compatibility agent is 
recommended. Rerun the above test but first add a 
cc:-npat\t)\1ity agent {1/4 teaspoon is eQual to a use rate of 
2 pintsl100 gallons spray mix) and gently shake the jar 
prior to addIng herbicides. 
e. If the mixture is now compatible, a compatibitny agent 
should be used in the spray mixture at Its recommended 
rate. 
7. If tne components of the solution are stilt incompat~ble, the 
mi;dure should not be attempted for use in the spray tank.
