In order to protect health and the environment, the Administrator, on his motion, may at any time suspend or cancel the registration of a pesticide in accordance with the Act. Avoid breathing spray mist or vapor." 4. Per the acute toxicity review, the PPE section must be revised to read: "Some materials that are chemical-resistant to this product are made of any waterproof material. If you want more options, follow the instructions for category A on an EPA chemical-resistance category selection chart. All mixers, loaders, applicators, flaggers, and other handlers must wear: -long-sleeved shirt and long pants, -shoes and socks, -chemical-resistant gloves, -goggles or face shield, and -chemical-resistant apron when mixing, loading, cleaning up spills or equipment, or otherwise exposed to the concentrate. See engineering controls for additional requirements." . Thetext "For applicators applying this product from a tractor, plane or helicopter that has a completely enclo'sed cab, eye protection is not required, but must be immediately available for use in an emergency, such as a spill or equipment breakdown" appearing on Page 22 of the label is unnecessary and should be deleted from the label. 5. The following engineering control text is missing from Sublabel III and must be added to the label: "Pilots must use an enclosed cockpit that meets the requirements listed in the WPS for agricultural pesticides [40CFR 170.240 (d)(6)." ( ( page 3 EPA Reg. No. 524-351 6. Per the 2,4-D RED label table, the text in bold type below must be added to the following User Safety Requirements on Page 22 of the label: " .. .If no such instructions for washablesexist, use detergent and hot water ... " 7. The text "Wash hands, face and arms with soap and water as soon as possible after mixing, loading, or applying this product. Wash hands, face and arms with soap and water before eating, smoking, or drinking. Wash hands and arms before using the toilet. After work, remove all clothing and shower using soap and water. If pesticide gets on skin, wash immediately with soap and water" on Page 22 of the label must be replaced with the following User Safety Recommendations text and must be placed in a box: "User Safety Recommendations User should wash hands before, eating, drinking, chewing gum, tobacco, of using the toilet. User should remove clothing/PPE immediately if pesticide gets inside. Then wash thoroughly and put on clean clothing. Users should remove PPE immediately after handling this product. As soon as possible, wash thoroughly and change into clean clothing." 8: Because this product may be used on sod farms, an Agricultural Use Requirements box must be added to Sublabel III and must contain the REI text and early entry PPE as listed in Sublabel I and the 2,4-D RED. 9. A Non-Agricultural Use Requirements box must be added to label with the following entry restriction text: "NON-AGRICULTURAL USE REQUIREMENTS The requirements in this box apply to uses of this product that are NOT within the . scope of the Worker Protection Standard for agricultural pesticides (40 CFR Part 170). The WPS applies when this product is used to product agricultural plants on farms, forests, nurseries, or greenhouses. Do not enter or allow people (or pets) to enter the treated area'until sprays have dried. n 10. Per the product chemistry review, the Agency recommends that the text "Do not store near fertilizers, seeds, insecticides or fungicides" be moved to the "Pesticide Storage" section of the label. ( page 4 EPA Reg. No. 524-351 11. The text below conflicts with the required spray drift text. The label must be revised in Supplemental Labels II and IV: "Coarse droplets in the 300 to 500 (VMD) micron range are recommended" versus "When applying sprays that contain 2,4-D as the sole active ingredient ... apply only as a coarse or coarser spray (ASAE standard 572) or a volume mean diameter or 385 microns or greater for spinning atomizer nozzles" as required in the 2,4-D RED. "Applications should typically be made with the nozzle release point at 8 to 15 feet above the top of the target plants unless a greater height is required for aircraft safety" versus " Do not release spray at a height greater than 10 feet above the crop canopy unless a greater height is required for aircraft safety" as required in the 2,4-D RED. " ... 1) Do not apply withiil 100 feet or any desirabkvegetation or crops. 2) If wind up to 5 miles per hour is blowing toward desirable vegetation or crops, do not apply within 500 feet upwind of the desirable vegetation or crops. 3) Winds blowing from 5 to 10 miles per hour toward desirable vegetation or crops wi11likely require buffer zones in excess of 500 feet" versus " ... Only apply this product if the wind direction favors on-target deposition and there are not sensitive areas ... within 250 feet downwind: .. " as required in the 2.4-D RED. 12. Reference to chemigation must be deleted from the spray drift section because the label prohibits application through any type of irrigation system. 13. Revisions are needed to the directions for use: Sublabel I Farmsteads, Ditches and Fencerows: -The text "Use a 1 percent solution of this product for spray-to-wet, spot-spraying applications. Spray coverage should be uniform and complete. Do not spray to the point of runoff' should be deleted from the label because it conflicts with rate restrictions specified in the RED for such noncrop sites. -Per the RED, the following rate restrictions must be added section under the heading "Farmsteads, Ditches and Fencerows:" "Annual and perennial weeds: Limited to 2 applications per year. *Maximum of 2.0 lbsae per acre per application. Wo~dy plants: Limited to 1 application per year. *Maximum of 4.0 lbs ae per acre per year." *The label· rate of 108 fluid ounces (1.26 lbs ae) per acre specified on the label may replace the rates above. No. 524-351 Either the ditchbank use must be deleted from the label or the ditch bank use must be moved to a separate section and include the following text as required in the 2,4-D RED: "Postemergence: Limited to 2 applications per season. Maximum of2.0 lbs ae/acre per application. Minimum of 30 days between applications. Spot treatment permitted. Do not use on small canals with a flow rate less than 10 cubic feet per second (CFS) where water will be used for drinking purposes. CFS may be estimated by using the formula below. The approximate velocity needed for the calculation can be determined by observing the length of time thatjt takes a floating object to travel a defined distance. Divide the distance (ft.) by the time (sec.) to estimate velocity (ft. per sec.). Repeat 3 times and use the average to calculate CFS. Average Width (ft.) x Average Depth (ft.) x Average Velocity (ft. per sec.) = CFS For ditchbank weeds: Do not allow boom spray to be directed onto water surface. Do not spray across stream to opposite bank. For shoreline weeds: Allow no more than 2 foot overspray onto water." Sublabels II: -As noted in item 14 above, the'spray drift text appearing in this section of the label must be revised. -The text "[Insert Specific Use Directions Here]" is unacceptable. Use directions must be listed for the Agency to review. -The text "For specific rates of application and instructions for control of various annual and perennial weeds, see the Weed Control tables in the label pamphlet for [INSERT BRAND NAME]" appearing on Pages 18 and 19 does not provide enough information to evaluate the directions for use for this sublabel. Maximum of 4.0 lbs ae per acre per year." -The label must clearly specify the following rate restrictions for all ornamental turf: "Limited to 2 applications per year. Maximum of 1.5 lbs ae per acre per application." -The label must be clearly specify the following rate restrictions for turf grown for seed or sod: "Limited to 2 applications per year. Maximum of2.0 lbs ae per acre per application. Minimum of 21 days between appliGations." -For stem injections: . Add the following restrictions: "Limit to one injection per year." Sublabel IV: -As noted in item 14 above, the spray drift text appearing in this section of the label must be revised. -The text "[Insert Specific Use Directions Here]" is unacceptable. PersOnal Protective Equipment (PPE): Some of the materials that are chemical-resistant to this product are listed below. Chemical resistant gloves are required when applying with any handheld nozzle or equipment. A chemical resistant apron plus chemical resistant gloves are required when mixing, loading, cleaning up spills or equipment or when otherwise exposed to this product's concentrate. . Discard clothing and other absorbent materials that have been drenched or heavily contaminated with this product's concentrate. Do not reuse them. Follow manufacturer's instructions for cleaning/maintaining PPE. If no such instructions for washables exist, use detergent and hot water. Keep and wash PPE separately from other laundry. After each day of use, clothing or PPE must not be reused until it has been cleaned. Engineering controls statements: When handlers use closed systems, enclosed cabs, or aircraft in a manner that meets the requirements listed in the Worker Protection Standard (WPS) for agricultural pesticides [40 CFR 170.240 (d) (4-6)], the handler PPE requirements may be reduced or modified as specified in the WPS. Pilot must use an enclosed cockpit that meets the requirements listed in the WPS for agricultural pesticides [40 CFR 170.240(d)(6)] .. IMPORTANT: When reduced PPE is worn because a closed system is being used, handlers must be provided all PPE specified above for "applicators and other handlers" and have such PPE immediately available for IJse in an emergency, such as spill or equipment breakdown. User Safety Recommendations: Users should: Wash hands before eating, drinking, chewing gum, using tobacco or using the toilet. Remove clothing/PPE immediately if pesticide gets inside. Then wash thoroughly and put on clean clothing. If pesticide gets on skin, wash immediately with soap and water. Remove PPE immediately after handling this product. Wash the outside of gloves before removing. As soon as possible, wash thoroughly and change into clean clothing. Environmental Hazards This pesticide may be toxic to fish and aquatic invertebrates. Do not apply directly to water, or to areas where surface water is present, or to intertidal areas below the mean high water mark. Do not contaminate water when cleaning equipment or disposing of equipment washwaters or rinsate. Drift or runoff may be hazardous to aquatic organisms in water adjacent to treated areas .. This chemical has properties and characteristics associated with chemicals detected in ground water. The use of this chemical in areas where soils are permeable, particularly where the water table is shallow, may result in ground water contamination. Application around a cistern or well may result in contamination of drinking water or ground water. Master Label 524-351 Page 4 of 38 Version: 23-Aug-2007 ( ( Physical or Chemical Hazards Spray solutions of this product should be mixed, stored and applied using only stainless steel, aluminum, fiberglass, plastic and plastic-lined steel containers. DO NOT MIX, STORE OR APPLY THIS PRODUCT OR SPRAY SOLUTIONS OF THIS PRODUCT IN GALVANIZED STEEL OR UNLINED STEEL (EXCEPT STAINLESS STEEL) CONTAINERS OR SPRAY TANKS. This product or spray solutions of this product react with such containers and tanks to produce hydrogen gas that may form a highly combustible gas mixture. This gas mixture could flash or explode, causing serious personal injury, if ignited by open flame, spark, welder's torch, lighted cigarette or other igni~ion source. DIRECTIONS FOR USE It is a violation of Federal law to use this product in any manner inconsistent with its labeling. This product can only be used in accordance with the Directions for Use on this label or in separately published Monsanto Supplemental Labeling. Do not apply this product in a way that will contact workers or other persons, either directly or through drift. Only protected handlers may be in the area during application. For any requirements specific to your State or Tribe, consult the agency responsible for pesticide regulations. . < Agricultural Use Requirements Use this product only in accordance with its labeling and with the Worker Protection Standard, 40 CFR part 170. This Standard contains requirements for the protection of agricultural workers on farms, forests, nurseries, and greenhouses, and handlers of agricultural pesticides. It contains requirements for training, decontamination, notification, and emergency assistance. It also contains specific instructions and exceptions pertaining to the statement on this label about personal protective equipment (PPE), and restricted-entry interval. The requirements in this box only apply to uses of this product that are covered by the Worker Protection Standard. Do not enter or allow worker entry into treated areas during the restricted entry interval (REI) of 48 hours. PPE required for early entry to treated areas that is permitted under the Worker Protection Standard and that involves contact with anything that has been treated, such as plants, soil, or water, is: coveralls, chemical-resistant gloves made of any waterproof material, shoes plus socks and protective eyewear. Storage and Disposal Donat contaminate water, foodstuffs feed or seed by storage or disposal. Do not store near fertilizers, seeds, insecticides or fungicides. . Keep container closed to prevent spills and contamination. PESTICIDE STORAGE: STORE ABOVE 40°F to keep product in solution. If crystals form, place in a warm room (72°F), allow the product to reach room temperature and roll or shake the container periodically until crystals have dissolved. PESTICIDE DISPOSAL: Pesticide wastes are acutely hazardous .. Improper disposal of excess pesticide, spray mixtures, or rinsate is a violation of Federal law and may contaminate ground water. If these wastes cannot be disposed of by use according to label instructions, contact your State Pesticide or Environmental Control Agency, or the Hazardous Waste representative at the nearest EPA Regional Office for guidance. Emptied container retains vapor and product residue. Observe all labeled safeguards until container is cleaned, reconditioned or destroyed. . See individual container label for disposal information. Users: When the container is empty, replace the cap and seal all openings that have been made during usage, and return the container to the point of purchase, or to an alternate location designated by the manufacturer at the time of purchase of this product. If not returned, triple rinse or pressure rinse the empty container and offer it for recycling if available. Refillers: Do not reuse this mini-bulk container except for refill in accordance with a valid Monsanto Repackaging or Toll Repackaging Agreement. Prior to refilling, inspect carefully for damage such as cracks, punctures, abrasions, worn-out threads and closure devices. Check for leaks after refilling and before transporting. GENERAL INFORMATION This product is a postemergence herbicide for control or suppression of emerged weeds in fallow and reduced tillage systems, prior to planting or emergence of wheat, barley, corn, oats, rye or sorghum (grain or forage), and as a spot treatment in corn, sorghum, forage grasses or forage legumes. Do not harvest or feed treated vegetation for 8 weeks after application. Following spot treatment in forage grasses or legumes, allow 30 days before harvesting or grazing domestic livestock. This product enters the plant through the foliage and moves throughout the plant. Visual effects of control are a gradua'l wilting or yellowing of the plant, which advances to complete browning of above-ground growth and deterioration of affected underground plant parts. Visible symptoms will usually develop within 2 to 4 days after application, but may not occur for 7 or more days. Extremely cool or cloudy weather following treatment may slow activity of this product and delay the visual effects of control. APPLICATION PRECAUTIONS AND RESTRICTIONS Do not plant any crop other than wheat, barley, corn, oats, rye or sorghum (grain or forage) for 3 months after treatment. This product is recommended for control of emerged weeds prior to establishment of labeled crops. Large amounts of green or decaying vegetation left standing or incorporated into the seedbed may enhance the development of disease in newly planted crops. This may result in poor emergence and/or stands, especially under cool and/or wet conditions. Spraying early to control young weeds before dense stands develop or light cultivation to assist weed decay will favor preparation of suitable seedbeds. In reduced tillage and no-till systems, ensure good seed to soil contact and proper seeding depth. Do not cut, feed or forage vegetation from treated areas for 8 weeks following application. DO NOT APPLY IN THE VICINITY OF 2,4-D SENSITIVE CROPS SUCH AS COTTON, GRAPES, TOMATOES AND OTHER DESIRABLE VEGETATION. Applications should be made only when there is no hazard from spray drift, since very small quantities of spray, which may not be visible, may severely injure susceptible crops or desirable vegetation. Movement of this product on soil particles during windstorms may cause damage to susceptible plants that are contacted. This hazard is reduced if rainfall occurs shortly after application. a When this label recommends a tank mixture with a generic active ingredient such as diuron, atrazine, or dicamba, the user is responsible for ensuring that the mixture product's label allows the specific application. GENERAL USE INSTRUCTIONS This product should be applied postemergence to vigorously growing weeds when they have reached the recommended size given in the "RECOMMENDED RATES AND WEEDS CONTROLLED" section of this label. Application should be delayed until maximum emergence of the target weeds, but before weeds exceed the maximum size recommended. For annual weeds, allow 1 day after treatment before tillage. For field bindweed, allow at least 7 days after treatment before tillage. Reduced control may result if treatments are made during poor growing conditions such as drought stress, disease or insect damage or if weeds have been mowed, grazed or cut. Heavy dust on foliage or an overstory canopy covering targeted weeds may also reduce control. Rainfall or irrigation occurring within 6 hours after application may reduce effectiveness. Make a single application of no more than 42 fluid ounces after the hard-dough stage of grain (30 percent or less grain moisture) and at least 14 days prior to harvest of grain, hay or straw. This product may be applied using either aerial or ground spray equipment. See the "APPLICATION EQUIPMENT AND TECHNIQUES" section for instructions for ground and aerial applications. Use a 1 percent solution of this product for spray-to-wet, spot-spraying applications. Spray coverage should be uniform and complete. Do not spray to the point of runoff. Treat when weeds are small, actively growing and free of dust. Use~!.Jid ounces of this product in 5 to 10 gallons of water per acre for broadcast boom applications. For ditch banks, make no more than 2 applications per season, observing at least a 3~-day retreatment interval. Do ndt allow boom spray to be directed onto water surface. Do not spray across stream to opposite bank. Spot treatments are permitted. For shoreline weeds, allow no more than 2-foot overspray onto water. AID TO TILLAGE This product, used in conjunction with preplant and conventional fallow tillage practices will provide control of downy brome, cheat, volunteer wheat, tansy mustard and foxtail. Apply 27 fluid ounces of this product in 3 to 10 gallons of water per acre to weeds that are actively growing. Treat when weeds are less than 6 inches in height. Application must be followed by conventional tillage practices before regrowth of the treated plant occurs. Allow at least 1 day after application before tillage. AMMONIUM SULFATE The addition of 1 to 2 percent dry ammonium sulfate by weight (or liquid equivalent) or 8.5 to 17 pounds per 100 gallons of water may increase the performance of [INSERT BRAND NAME] and [INSERT BRAND NAME] tank mixtures on annual weeds. The improvement in performance may be apparent where environmental stress is a concern. Low-quality ammonium sulfate may contain material that will not readily dissolve which could result in nozzle tip plugging. To determine quality, perform a jar test by adding 1/3 cup of ammonium sulfate to 1 gallon of water and agitate for 1 minute. If undissolved sediment is observed, predissolve the ammonium sulfate in water and filter prior to addition to the spray tank. If ammonium sulfate is added directly to the spray tank, add slowly with agitation. Adding too quickly may clog outlet line. ENSURE THAT AMMONIUM SULFATE IS COMPLETELY DISSOLVED IN THE SPRAY TANK BEFORE ADDING HERBICIDES. THOROUGHLY RINSE THE SPRAY SYSTEM WITH CLEAN WATER AFTER USE TO REDUCE CORROSION. NOTE:. Compatibility problems may occur at carrier volumes below 5 gallons per acre. APPLICATION EQUIPMENT Do not apply this product through any type of irrigation system . . This product may be applied using ground, aerial spray or hand-held equipment. Use extreme care to avoid misting or drifting of herbicide solution onto foliage, green stems or fruit of desirable crops, trees, or . plants during both growing and dormant periods since even very small quantities of spray can cause severe plant injury. SPRAY DRIFT MANAGEMENT A variety of factors including weather conditions (e.g., wind direction, wind speed, temperature, and relative humidity) and method of application (e.g., ground, aerial, airblast, and chemigation) can influence Master Label 524-351 Page 11 of 38 Version: 23-Aug-2007 ( (' " , pesticide drift, The applicator must evaluate all factors and make appropriate adjustments when applying this product. Droplet Size When applying sprays that contain 2,4-0 as the sale active ingredient, or when applying sprays that contain 2,4-D mixed with active ingredients that require a Coarse or coarser spray, apply only as a Coarse or coarser spray (ASAE standard 572) or a volume mean diameter of 385 microns or greater for spinning atomizer nozzles, . When applying sprays that contain 2,4-0 mixed with other active ingredients that require a Medium or more fine spray, apply only as a Medium or coarser spray (ASAE standard 572) or a volume mean diameter of 300 microns or greater for spinning atomizer nozzles. Wind Speed Do not apply at wind speeds greater than 15 miles per hour. Only apply this product if the wind direction favors on-target deposition and there are not sensitive areas (including, but not limited to, residential areas, bodies of water, known habitat for nontarget species, nontarget crops) within 250 feet downwind. If applying a Medium spray, leave one swath unsprayed at the downwind edge of the treated field. Temperature Inversions If applying at wind speeds less than 3 miles per hour, the applicator must determine if: a) conditions of temperature inversion exist, or b) stable atmospheric conditions exist at or below nozzle height. Do not make applications into areas of temperature inversions or stable atmospheric conditions. Susceptible Plants Do not apply under circumstances where spray drift may occur to food, forage, or other plantings that might be damaged or crops thereof rendered unfit for sale, use, or consumption. Susceptible crops include, but are not limited to, cotton, okra, flowers, grapes (in growing stage), fruit trees (foliage), soybeans (vegetative stage), or1)amentals, sunflowers, tomatoes, beans, and other vegetables or tobacco. Small amounts of spray drift that may not be visible may injure susceptible broadleaf plants. Other State and Local Requirements Applicators must follow all state and local pesticide drift requirements regarding application of 2,4-0 herbicides. Where states have more stringent regulations, they must be observed. Equipment All aerial and ground application equipment must be properly maintained and calibrated using appropriate carriers or surrogates. GROUND BROADCAST SPRAY EQUIPMENT: Apply recommended rates of this product in 3 to 10 gallons of water per acre as a broadcast spray. For optimum spray distribution and coverage, use flat-fan or low volume flood nozzles. When using flood nozzles, space them no more than 40 inches apart and ensure double overlap of spray pattern. Refer to the manufacturer's recommendations for correct pressure and nozzle height above the target canopy. Avoid pressure and nozzles that produce fine droplets or mist. Do not apply with a nozzle height greater than 4 feet above the crop canopy. Use appropriate marking devices to ensure uniform spray coverage and best results from [INSERT BRAND NAME] herbicide. HAND-HELD and HIGH-VOLUME SPRAY EQUIPMENT (use coarse sprays only): Mix this product in ~Iean water and apply to foliage of vegetation to be controlled. For applications made on a spray-to-wet basis, spray coverage should be uniform and complete. Do not spray to the point of runoff. Release spray at the lowest height consistent with efficacy and flight safety. This requirement does not apply to forestry or rights-of-way applications. When applications are made with a crosswind, the swath will be displaced downwind. The applicator must compensate for this by adjusting the path of the aircraft upwind. . MIXING INSTRUCTIONS [INSERT BRAND NAME] ALONE Fill the spray tank to about 3/4 of the desired volume with clean water. Add the recommended amount of this product, then complete the filling process while maintaining agitation. Remove the hose from the mix tank immediately after filling to avoid siphoning back into the carrier source. During mixing and application, foaming of the spray solution may occur. To prevent or minimize foam, terminate by-pass and retuf:n lines at the tank bottom and/or use an agriculturally approved anti-foam or defoaming agent. ) Additional surfactant is not necessary for this formulation. NOTE: Reduced control may occur if water containing soil is used, such as water from ponds and unlined ditches. TANK MIXTURES Always predetermine the compatibility of labeled tank mixtures o'f this herbicide with water carrier by mixing small proportional quantities in advance. Mix labeled tank mixtures of [INSERT BRAND NAME] with water as follows: 1. Place a 20- to 35-mesh screen or wetting basket over filling port. 2. Through the screen, fill the sprayer tank one-half full with water and start agitation. 3. If a wettable powder is used, make a slurry with the water carrier, and add it SLOWLY through the screen into the tank. Continue agitation. '4. If a flowable formulation is used, premix one part f10wable with one part water. Add diluted mixture SLOWLY through the screen into the tank. Continue agitation. 5. If an emulsifiable concentrate formulation is used, premix one part emulsifiable concentrate with two parts water. Add diluted mixture SLOWLY through the screen into the tank. Continue agitation. 6. Continue filling the sprayer tank with water and add the required amount of this product near the end of the filling process. 7. Add individual formulations to the spray tank as follows: wettable powder, f1owable, emulsifiable concentrate, drift control additive, water soluble liquid. Maintain good agitation at all times until the contents of the tank are sprayed. If the spray mixture is allowed to settie, thorough agitation is required to resuspend the mixture before spraying is resumed. Keep by-pass line onor near bottom of tank to minimize foaming. Screen size in nozzle should be no finer than 1 ~O-mesh and in-line strainers should be no finer than 50-mesh. Carefully select proper nozzle to avoid spraying a fine mist. For best results with conventional ground application equipment, use flat-fan nozzles. ' Check the label of all products used in the tank mix for cleaning instructions. Clean as per the hardest material to remove. SPRAYER CLEANUP CLEAN THE ENTIRE SPRAYER AFTER APPLICATION OF THIS PRODUCT. Failure to clean the sprayer thoroughly may result in injury to desirable crops that are subsequently sprayed. First, add clean water to the tank and thoroughly rinse the entire sprayer system. Secondly, fill the tank with water and ammonia. Add 1 quart of household ammonia per 25 gallons of water. Then fill the tank, close and leave for 24 hours before draining and rinsing thoroughly with water. Thoroughly wash aircraft, especially landing gear, after each day of spraying to remove residues of this product accumulated during spraying or from spills. PROLONGED EXPOSURE OF THIS PRODUCT TO UNCOATED STEEL SURFACES MAY RESULT IN CORROSION AND POSSIBLE FAILURE OF THE PART. LANDING GEAR ARE MOST SUSCEPTIBLE. This product is a broad-spectrum postemergence herbicide for control or suppression of emerged weeds growing in non-crop, rangeland, and industrial areas. Time to Symptoms: This product enters the plant through the foliage and moves throughout the plant. Visual effects of control are a gradual wilting or yellowing of the plant, which advances to complete browning of aboveground growth and deterioration of affected underground plant parts. Visible symptoms will usually develop on labeled weeds within 2 to 4 days after application, but may not occur for 7 or more days. E~remely cool or cloudy weather following treatment may slow activity of this product and delay the visual effects of control. . Stage and Condition of Weeds: This product should be applied postemergence to vigorously growing weeds at a rate recommended in the "RECOMMENDED RATES AND WEEDS CONTROLLED" section of this label. Application should be delayed until maximum emergence of the target weeds but before mature seeds are produced. Reduced control may result if treatments are made during poor growing conditions such as drought stress, disease or insect damage or if weeds have been mowed, grazed or cut. Through the screen, fill the sprayer tank one-half full with water and start agitation. 3. Use extreme care to avoid misting or drifting of herbicide solution onto foliage, green stems or fruit of desirable crops, trees, or plants during both growing and dormant periods since even very small quantities of spray can cause severe plant injury. SPRAY DRIFT MANAGEMENT AVOID DRIFT. EXTREME CARE MUST BE USED WHEN APPLYING THIS PRODUCT TO PREVENT INJURY TO DESIRABLE PLANTS AND CROPS. Do not allow the herbicide solution to mist, drip, drift or splash onto desirable vegetation since minute quantities of this product can cause severe damage or destruction to the crop, plants or other areas on which treatment was not intended. A variety of factors including weather conditions (e.g., wind direction, wind speed, temperature, and relative humidity) and method of application (e.g., ground, aerial, airblast, and chemigation) can influence pesticide drift. The applicator must evaluate all factors and make appropriate adjustments when applying this product. Droplet Size When applying sprays that contain 2,4-0 as the sole active ingredient, or when applying sprays that contain 2,4-0 mixed with active ingredients that require a Coarse or coarser spray, apply only as a Coarse or coarser spray (ASAE standard 572) or a volume mean diameter of 385 microns or greater for spinning atomizer nozzles. Wind Speed' Do not apply at wind speeds greater than 15 miles per hour. Only apply this product if the wind direction favors on-target deposition and there are not sensitive areas (including, but not limited to, residential areas, bodies of water, known habitat for nontarget species, nontarget crops) within 250 feet downwind. If applying a Medium spray, leave one swath unsprayed at the downwind edge of the treated field. Temperature Inversions If applying at wind speeds less than 3 miles per hour, the applicator must determine if: a) conditions of temperature inversion exist, or b) stable atmospheric conditions exist at or below nozzle height. Do not make applications into areas of temperature inversions or stable atmospheric conditions. Susceptible Plants Do not apply under circumstances where spray drift may occur to food, forage, or other plantings that might be damaged or crops thereof rendered unfit for sale, use, or consumption. Susceptible crops include, but are not limited to, cotton, okra, flowers, grapes (in growing stage), fruit trees (foliage), soybeans (vegetative stage), ornamentals, sunflowers, tomatoes, beans, and other vegetables or tobacco. Small amounts of spray drift that may not be visible may injure susceptible broad leaf plants. Ottier State and Local Requirements Applicators must follow all state and local pesticide drift requirements regarding application of 2,4-0 herbicides. Where states have more stringent regulations, they must be observed. Equipment· All aerial and ground application equipment must be properly maintained and calibrated using appropriate carriers or surrogates. 7.1 Aerial Equipment DO NOT APPLY THIS PRODUCT USING AERIAL SPRAY EQUIPMENT EXCEPT UNDER CONDITIONS AS SPECIFIED WITHIN THIS LABEL. Use the recommended rates of this product in 3 to 5 gallons of water per acre as a broadcast spray. TO PREVENT INJURY TO ADJACENT DESIRABLE VEGETATION, APPROPRIATE BUFFER ZONES MUST BE MAINTAINED. Avoid direct application to any body of water. Drift control additives may be used. When a drift control additive is used, read and carefully observe the cautionary statements and all other information appearing on the additive label. Ensure uniform application --To avoid streaked, uneven or overlapped application, use appropriate marking devices. The boom length must not exceed 75 percent of the wingspan or 90 percent of the rotor blade diameter. Release spray at the lowest height consistent with efficacy and flight safety. Do not release spray at a height greater than 10 feet above the crop canopy unless a greater height is required for aircraft safety. This requirement does not apply to forestry or rights-of-way applications. When applications are made with a crosswind, the swath will be displaced downwind. The applicator must compensate for this by adjusting the path of the aircraft upwind. Pilot must use an enclosed cockpit that meets the requirements listed in the WPS for agricultural pesticides [40 CFR 170.240(d)(6)]. The maintenance of an organic coating (paint) which meets aerospace specification MIL~C-38413 may prevent corrosion. 7.2 Ground Broadcast Equipment Apply recommended rates of this product in 15 to 30 gallons of water per acre as a broadcast spray. For optimum spray distribution and coverage, use flat fan or low-volume flood nozzles. When using flood noz;les, space them no more than 40 inches apart and ensure double overlap of spray pattern. Refer to the manufacturer's recommendations for correct pressure and nozzle height above the target canopy. Avoid pressure settings and nozzles that produce fine droplets or mist. Do not apply with a nozzle height greater than 4 feet above the crop canopy. Use appropriate marking devices to ensure uniform spray coverage and best results from this product. 7.3 Equipment Cleaning CLEAN THE ENTIRE SPRAYER AFTER APPLICATION OF THIS PRODUCT. Add clean water to the tank and thoroughly rinse the entire sprayer system, then fill the tank with water and ammonia. Add 1 quart of household ammonia per 25 gallons of water. Pump enough solution through the hoses, boom and nozzles to fill these parts completely. Then fill the tank, close and leave for 24 hours before draining and rinsing thoroughly with water. 8.0 SITE AND USE RECOMMENDATIONS [INSERT BRAND NAME] may be used for general postemergence control or suppression of emerged weeds. Follow-up applications in sequential years should eliminate most of the viable seeds. Grazing of treated areas should be delayed to encourage growth of desirable perennials. Allowing desirable perennials to flower and reseed in the treated area will encourage successful transition. PRECAUTIONS, RESTRICTIONS: Do not use ammonium sulfate when spraying rangeland grasses with this product. Do not make more than one application per year. Do not cut grass or forage for hay. Postemergence Applications to Control Grass Weeds When applied as directed, this product will control or suppress many annual grass weeds growing in perennial cool and warm season grass rangelands. Apply 40 to 54 fluid ounces of this product to control or suppress many weeds, including downy brome, cheat grass, cereal rye and jOinted goatgrass in rangeland"s. Apply when most mature brome plants are in early flower and before the plants including seedheads turn color. Allowing for secondary weed flushes to occur in the spring following rain events further depletes the seed reserve, and encourages perennial . grass conversion on weedy sites. Fall applications are possible, and recommended where spring moisture is usually limited and fall germination allows for good weed growth. For medusahead cOntrol,applY 54 fluid ounces when the medusahead has reached the 3-leaf stage. Delaying applications beyond this stage will result in reduced or unacceptable control. Fire may be useful in eliminating the thatch layer produced by slow decaying culms prior to application. Allow new growth to occur before spraying' after a burn. Repeat applications in subsequent years may be necessary to eliminate the seed bank before reestablishing desirable perennial grasses in medusahead-dominated rangelands. . Slight discoloration of the desirable grasses may occur, but they will regreen and regrow under moist soil conditions as effects of this product wear off. Postemergence Applications to Control Noxious Weeds When applied as directed, this product will provide control or suppression of noxious weeds growing in rangelands, perennial grasslands, roadsides, or similar industrial sites specified on this label.
