On the basis of information furnished by the registrant, the above named pesticide is hereby registered/reregistered under the federal Insecticide, fungicide and Rodenticide Act. Registration is in no way to be construed as an endorsement or recommendation of this product by the Agency. In order to protect health and the environment, the Administrator, on his motion, may at any time suspend or cancel the registration of a pesticide in accordance with the Act. The acceptance of any name in connection with the registration of a product under this Act is not to be construed as giving the registrant a right to exclusive use of the name or to its use if it has been covered by others. This product is conditionally registered in accordance with FIFRA sec. 3(c) (7) (A) provided that you: 1. Submit/cite all data required for the registration/reregistration review of your product when the Agency requires all "registrants of similar products to submit such data. 2. Make the following label changes: a. Revise the EPA Registration Number to read, "EPA Reg. No. 279-3247". b. The labeling has the precautionary statements, worker protection standard requirements, storage and disposal and environmental hazards information stated on the labeling, therefore, delete the statement that refers the user to the individual product labels. In the "Agricul tural Use Requirements" box add . the following statement: "For early entry to treated areas that is permitted under the Worker Protection Standard and that involves contact with anything that has been treated, such as plants, soil, or water, wear: long-sleeved shirt and long pants, socks and shoes. " d. The labeling requires a "Note to Physician" which should appear directly after the "First Aid" statements. Please refer to the enclosed review for suggested types of information that may be included. 3. Submit corrosion characteristics (830.6320) and storage stability (830.6317) studies within 8 months of the date of this Notice. 4. Submit two copies of the revised final printed label for the record. A stamped copy of the label is enclosed for your records. If these conditions are not complied with, the registration will be subject to cancellation in accordance with FIFRA sec. 6(e). TIMING AND METHOD OF APPLICATION Preplant Incorporated Application: Apply Gauntlet alone or In tank mix combination with other herbicides registered for preplant Incorporated appli~ cation to soybeans. Incorporate the herblcide(s) Into the top 1 to 3 inches of the flnal seedbed using equipment that provides thorough soil mixing. Do not apply Gaumlet earlier than 30 days prior to planting. When Gauntlet is applied in tank mix combination with other hertlcide(s), follow the incorpo~ ration directions for the tank mix partner(s). Follow applicable use instruc~ tions. including application rates. precautions and restrictions of each prod­ uct used in the tank mixture. Thorough coverage Is essential and use a minimum of ten gallons per acre finished spray volume. Use a non-ionic surfactant (NIS) having at least 80% active ingredient strength at 0.125--0.25% vJv (1-2 pints per 100 gallons of spray solution) plus ammonium sulfate (AMS) at 2.5% v/v. Crop oil concentrate (COe) at 1.2% vlv plus ammonium sulfate may be used. Bumdown results may be slowed or reduced when the growth of the weeds is affected by unusual environmental factors just prior to or aftar application such as especially cool or widely fluctuating day and night air temperatures," drought, heat stress, or waterlogged soils. To broaden the spectrum of weeds controlled, Gauntlet may be tank mixed with other herbicides such as 2,4-0, Roundup, or Gramoxone. Weed. Inbred lines should be thoroughly tested for crop tolerance before rotating to large acreage. While growers are not prohibited from rotating to seed com in the growing season follow­ ing an application of Gauntlet, FMC will not accept respOnsibility for any crop injury on field com grown for seed following an application of Gauntlet. 2.
