DIRECTIONS FOR USE 
It is a violation 01 lederal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent 
with its labeling. 
Do not apply this product in a way that WI!! contact wOIkers 01 other 
persons, either directly or through drift. Only protected handlers may 
be in the area during application. FOI any requ~ements specifIC to 
your State or Tribe, consult the agency responsible lor pesticide reg­
ulation. 
AGRICULTURAL USE REQUIREMENTS 
Use this prc>ducl only in accordance with its labeling and with 
the Worker Protection Standard, 40 CFR part 170. This 
Standard contains requ~ernenls for the protection of agricultural 
workers on farms, Iorests, nurseries, and greenhouses, and 
handlers of agricultural pesticides. It contains requirements for 
training, decontamination, notification, and emergency assis­
tance. It also contains specific instructions and exceptions per­
taining to the statements on this label about personal protective 
equipment(PPE) and restricted-enlry interval. The requirements 
in this box only apply to uses of this product thai are covered by 
Ihe Worker Prolection Siandard.

phate insecticide. In all cases, the use of ACCENT on popcorn 01 field corn 
grown lor seed which has been treated with 'Counter' insecticide is prohib­

Do not apply ACCENT to corn that exhibits injury Irem herbicide applications 
made to the current crop or previous crop. 
For ground application to weeds when dry, dusty lietd condilions exist, 
controf 01 weeds in wheel track areas may be reduced. 
Do not allow spray from application equipment to drift onto adjacenl crops or 
land as even small amounts may injure other plants. When spraying near 
adjacent crops or piants, do everything possible 10 reduce spray drir.. 
In fields infested with Johnsongrass. a virus-tolerant corn hybrid should be 
used. Consult your local seed corn representative lor inlormatlon on virus­
toleranl hybrids.

GENERAL INFORMATION 
ACCENT HerbiCide is a waler disperSible granule containing 75 percent 
active ingredient by weight. 
ACCENT Herbicide is a selective herbicide lor the conlrol 01 annual and 
perennial grass weeds and selected broadleal weeds when applied posl· 
emergence 10 field corn, popcorn or field corn grown lor seed. Do not use 
on sweet corn. 
NOTE: Prior 10 using ACCEtlT, consideration should be given to crop rota­
tional plans. ROlalional crops other llian COIn may be very sensitive to low

Field Corn Grown lor Seed: Various seed companies have lesled a wide 
range 01 inbreds lor sensitivity to ACCENT and have reported elcellent crop 
safety. However, because 01 the prop<ietary nature 01 seed corn production, 
Du Pont has not been given access to seed company data. Consequently, 
Du Pont cannoi be held responsible lor any crop injury arising Irom the use 
01 ACCENT on seed corn. The grower is directed 10 contact the seed 
company lor lull ,"Iormation and recommendations regarding the use 01 
ACCENT on inbreds as well as the eflec1 on selectivity from the prior use of 
a soil-applied organophospl'.ate insecticide. 
In aI cases, do not apply ACCENT to seed corn which has been treated with 
"Counter" insecIicide. 
Do not apply to seed corn taler than 20 inches. 
Popcorn: Various popcorn COIJ1)aI1ies have tested hybrids for sensitivity to 
ACCENT and have reported excelent crop safety. However, not aI popcorn 
hybrids have been tested. Consequently, Du Ponl cannot be held resp0nsi­
ble for any crop injury arising from the use of ACCENT on popcorn. The 
grower is directed to contact the contracting popcorn company for full infor­
mation and recommendations regarding the use of ACCENT on popcorn 
hybrids as wei as the eflec1 on selectivity from the prior use 01 a soi~applied 
organophosphate insecticide. 
Do not apply ACCENT to 'White Dynamite' popoorn. 
In aft cases, do not apply ACCENT to popcorn which has been treated with 
"Counter" insecticide. 
Do not apply to popcorn taller than 20 inr..hes. 
Weed stage 
For best resutts applications should be made to actively growing weeds at 
growth stages/weed hetghts no greater than those shown in the ACCENT 
USE RATE GUIDE. Resutts of applications at later growth stages may vary 
from complete control to suppression, depending on the species, stage of 
growth and environmental conditions. 
Heavy infestations of grass andlor broadleaf weeds should be treated before 
they become too competitive w~h the crop, especially where soil moisture 
andlor fertility are in marginal supply. Where an early postemergence treat­
ment is deemed necessary, a second application or a timely cultivation may 
be required to control later emerging weeds. 
Weather: Cond~ions which promote heatthy, actively growing plants result 
in the best weed control pertormance with ACCENT. Best activity occurs 
during warm, moist conditions (70 degrees F or more), and adequate soil 
moisture belore, during and immediately after application. When application 
is made during cool (less than 50 degrees F) dry weather or to weeds har~ 
ened off by drought or cold, weeds may only be suppressed. 
ACCENT is rainlast 4 hours after application. 
Ground application: Increase spray volume and pressUle as weed density 
and size increases. Avoid overlapping, and shut off spray booms v.ilile start­
ing, turning, sJoo<,ing or slopping, or injUIY to the crop might result Refer 10 
specific equipment manulacturer's recommendations for add~ional informa­
tion on spray volume, pressure, speed, nozzle type and arrangemen~ nozzle 
height above the target area, etc., for respective application equipment. 
Use a nozzle spacing and boom height 3Ifangement that avoids applying an 
excessive rate 01 ACCENT directly over the corn rows and into the whorl. 
Reier to manufacturers' recommendations for proper boom heigh! above the 
corn .. herl for specific nozzle types. Also refer to the DuPont Bulletin 
"APPLICATION ACCURACY FOR ACCENT HERBICIDE". 
For optimum spray distribution and thorough ooverage, use nat fan nozzles 
at 2().4() psi. Use a minimum of 10 gallons carrier per acre. Under heavy 
weed pressure, dense crop foItage. or mo~ture stress condiIJons, increase 
carrier volume tt, at least 15 gallons per acre and use maximum spray pres­
sure recommended lor the nozzle type. 
For band applications, apply proportionately less product. To avoid crop 
injury due to improper applicalJon, CALIBRATE ROWBANDER UNITS BY 
FOLLOWING THE DIRECTIONS CONTAINED IN THE DUPONT BULLETIN 
"APPLICATION ACCURACY - ROWBANDERS".

RaindlOp', flood and other nozzles which pro<fuc<, very coarse sprays are 
not recommended for ACCENT applications because weed control perlor­
mance may be reduced. 
Use 5().mesh or larger strainer SCf'een5. 
Aerial application: Use nozzle types and arrangements that provide 
opinum spray distribution and malirun coverage 01 \he weeds. CAUTION 
- AVOID SPRAY DRIFT. See the CAUTp!l - AVOID SPRAY DRIFT se<ion 
of this label for additional information. Do not apply during inversion c0ndi­
tions, when winds are gusty or when other conditic'lS favor poor coverage 
and'or off-larget spray movement. 
For shanercane and Johnsongrass, use 3 GPA and apply on fiefd corn less 
than 24 inches tall and on popoorn or freld corn grown for seed less than 20 
inches tal. For other labeled grasses in freld corn, popcorn or freld corn 
grown for seed use 3 GPA on corn up to 8 inches tal and 5 GPA on corn 8 to 
16 inches taH. 
Do not apply to other labeled grasses in field corn, popcorn or fieid corn 
grown for seed that is taller than 16 inches. 
Continueus agitation is required to keep ACCENT in suspension. 
Chemigation: Do not apply this product through any type ~I irrigation 
system. 
CAUTION· AVOID SPRAY DRIFT 
It is important with all crop protection products to minimize spray drift. 
Follow these practices to avoid oft-target movement: 
o Stop spraying il wind speed becomes elcessive. DO NOT SPRAY IF 
WIND SPEED IS 10 MPH OR GREATER. Spray drift can occur at wind 
speeds less than 10 MPH. If sensitive crops or plants are downv;,nd, 
caution must be used, even in relatively low wind conditions. DO NOT 
SPRAY IF WINDS ARE GUSIY. 
o High temperatures, drought and low relative humidity increase the DOss~ 
bilily 01 spray drift. CAt rTION MUST BE USED WHEN THESE CONDI­
TIONS ARE PRESEN'I AND SENSITIVE CROPS OR PI.ANTS ARE 
NEARBY, REGARDLESS OF WIND SPEED. 
o Do net apply when a temperature inversion exists. An inversion is char· 
acterized by low air movement and an increase in air temperature w~h an 
increase in altitude. In humid regions, a fog or mist may form. An inver­
sion may be detected by produciflQ a smoke column from a source on the 
ground and checking for a layering effect. Smoke producing devices on 
aircraft are recommended. II you are not sure whether inversion condi­
tions exist, consuft with focal weather services before making an applica­
tion. 
o Use 01 high pressure increases the risk of drift. Do not apply ACCENT at 
pressUles in elcess of 40 PSI.

4) For ground applications, be aware of neighboring sensitive crops. Do 
nol turn near sensitive crops wilhout shutting off sprayer prior to 
making Ihe turn. Be aware 01 the wind direction 10 avoid pesticide 
movement onlo a sensitive crop. 
NOTE: "you are not sure a given spray applocalion witl stay on the tar~)t 
site, postpone lhe applicalion. The minimization of pesticide drift is lhe 
responsibility 01 the person appIyi'9 the pesticide. Interactions between 
weather conditions and land configurations may contribute to unpredictallle 
drift patterns 01 all crop protection products. 
SPRAY PREPARATION 
It is in1KJrtant that spray equipment is dean and free 01 existing pesticide 
deposits before using ACCENT. Follow the cleanup procedures s,>eeIted on 
the label of the product(s) previously sprayed. • no deanout procedL.e is 
provided, foIow this deanout proan.e for at app!ication equ~ befo;~ 
using ACCENT: 
1. Th<',ough/y rinse sprayer. tanks, boom and hoses with clean water. 
2. Partialy fiU tank with water and add ammonia (1 gallon of household 
ammonia per 100 gal. of tank YOIume) or a tank cleaner. Follow individual 
label instructions for the amount of tank cleaner 10 use. Complete f~ling the 
tank and flush the cleaning soIutJon through the boom hoses. let stand for 
15 minules while ag:talinglrecirculating and then drain the tank alter flushing 
the hoses booms and noules. 
3. Thoroughly rinse the sprayer, tanks. boom anid hoses with clean water. 
4. Follow labet directions on prciducl(s) previously sprayed for rinsale dis­
posal. 
Mix the proper amount of ACCENT into the necessary volume of water in 
Ihe spray tank wilh the agilalor running, then add the adjuvant(s) and any 
companion herbicide to the lank after all the ACCENT is in suspension. 
Residues of lank mix partners remaining in the spray tank may interfere with 
the dispersion of ACCENT. If ACCENT and a tank mix partner are to be 
applied in multiple loads, pre-slurry ACCENT in clean water prior to adding 
to the tank. 
Apply ACCENT spray preparation within 24 hours after mixing or prciduct 
degradation may occur. If spray preparation is left standing, agitate thor­
oughly before continuing to spray. 
Adjuvanls: Always add a crop oil concentrate (COG) OR nonionic suriac­
tant to the spray mixture. Use a goOO quality petroleum-based COG ::on­
taini% at least 15% emulsifltrs/ suriactanls. Add COC to the spray mixlure 
at 10/, voIJvoI. (1 gallon per 100 galfons of spray mixture). COG is recom­
mended for certain grasses and for applications made during hot, dry condi­
tions. 
If a nenionic sUllactant is substijuted for COC, use a suri312nt that contains 
at least 80% active ingredient (of wI1ich at least 50% is actual nonionic sur­
lattant). Add suriac\ant at 0.25% voIlvoi. (1 quart per 100 gallons 01 spray 
solution). Use only EPA approved surfactants authorized for use on food 
crops. AVOID PRODUCTS THAT 00 NOT ACCURATelY DEFINE THEIR 
NGREDIENT5. 
Adding liquid nilrogen fertilizer soIu1ion (e.g., 28-0-0 Of 32-0-0) or spray 
graide am"'onium sulfate to the spray solution may improve the control 01 
certain weed species. However, a nonionic surlactant or crop oil concefl­
trate wi" still be necessary. Add liquid nitrogen fertihzer solution al 4% 
voIlvoI. (4 gal. pc' 100 gal.). Add spray graide ammonium suHate at 2 Ib 
producVacre. Do net use liquid fertihzer solutions or suspensions as the 
total carrier because excessive crop injury may occur. 
Corn tolerance to ACCENT is very high. so adjUV"nt selection can be based 
solely on maximizing weed control. If anolher herbicide is tank mixed wllh 
ACCENT to increase broadleaf weed spectrum, adjuvant selection must be 
determined accordmg to selectIVIty Iimltahons 01 the other herbICide. 11

Control of woony cupgtass and sandbur is maximized with the use of COG 
and either 280/, nihogen ferl~izer SolUlion or anlmonium su!lale. 
APPLICATION RATE 
ACCENT may be appfied postemergence to control many grass weeds 
and selected annual broa<leaf weeds in field corn, popcorn and field corn 
grown tor seed. Do not apply to sweet corn. 
Apply ACCENT al the rates listed in ACCENT USE 'lATE GUIDE. Apply

weeds (more than three tlHers) may be smaller than the size tisted in Ihe 
ACCENT USE RATE GUIDE due to drought or other environmental 
factors. When conditions exist where weeds are maturing rapidly. apply 
ACCENT to weeds whICh are smaller than heights listed in the ACCENT 
USE RATE GUIDE. 
In the WESTERN U.S. and WESTERN AREAS OF THE CORN BELT. arid

Sequential Applications 
Annual weeds sometimes will have mOte than one flush of seedling emer­
gence and trealed pereMials may sometimes regrow from undIerground 
siems or roots, dlepending upon rainfan and other environmental condi­
lions. To maximize control of such weeds, il may be necessary 10 use a 
sequential application of ACCENT in which the first application goes on 
early before the weeds become competitive, followed by a second applica­
tion 14-28 days laler, depending upon Ihe timing of a new flush or 
regrowth. The combined dosage of the sequenlial appIicalions cannol 
exceed 1 1/3 ozlacre of ACCENT. 
Annual weeds:For shaltercane, seedling Johnsongrass, and annual 
g<asses: 213 oziaCIe followed by 2/3 ozlacre 14·28 days laler, depending 
upon Ihe emergence of the new flush. 
Perennial weeds: For sequential applicalions to rhizome Johnsongrass 
apply 2J3 oz. ACCENT when johnsongrass;s 6-i2" tall, followed by 213 oz. 
ACCENT when new growth is 6-1 0". 
Cultivation 
Cultivation may be used as an addllional weed control measure 10 remove 
weed escapes following ACCENT trealment andior as an alternative to a 
sequential ACCENT treatment Ideal timing for cultivation is 7-14 days 
after ACCENT application. Do not cultivate within 10 days prior to 
ACCENT application. or control may be reduced. 
TANK MIXES 
ACCENT + atraline: ACCENT may be tank mIXed with atrazine for 
improved control of broadleaf weeds. See alrazine label for addilional 
weeds contrOlled, weed sizes and applicaliOn condllions. For weeds lisled 
on both ACCENT and atrazine labels, follow the weed size guidelines 
which are least restrictive. 
Tank mix ACCENT with 314 - 1112 quarts/acre aITazine 4L or 0.83 - 1.66 
Ib atrazine 90% dry flowable and apply before corn is 12 inches tall. 
Always add a crop oil concentrate at 1% voVvol (I gal/loo gal.). See 
SPRAY PREPARATION section of this label for crop oil concentrate guide­
ines. A nrtrogen fertilizer solution (28%, 32% N) at 4% vollvol (4 gaVloo 
gal) or 2 h'acre spray grade ammonium sulfate may be added fo enhance 
ACCENT performance on certain weeds, but crop oil concenlTate must 
always be added.

CROP ROTATIONAL GUIDELINES 
Rotational crops vary in their response to low concentrations of ACCENT 
remaining in the soil after corn ha'Vest. ACCENT dissipates rapidly in 
warmer, acidic, microbiologically-active seils. The amount 01 ACCENT 
which may be present in the soil is dependent upon rate used, soil pH and 
organic maHer content, elapsed time since ACCENT application, crop pro­
duction practICes and climate and weather lactors. 
Injury to rotational crops may occur on high pH (> 7.5). cold soils il 
extremely dry weather prevails between application and rotational crop 
planting. Consult your local DuPont representative lor additional guide­
lines. 
SPRAYER CLEANUP 
AT THE END OF THE DAY: 
To prevent the buildup 01 dried pesticide deposits, which can accumulate 
on application equipment during periods when muiliple loads 01 ACCENT 
will be applied, rinse the interior 01 the tank at the end 01 each day 01 
spraying with fresh water. Then, partially fill the tank with water and flush 
the boom and hoses. Rinsate may be disposed of on-site, if allowed, or at 
an approved waste disposallacility. Allow the remainder 01 thF water to 
stand in the tank overnight. 
AFTER LAST ACCENT APPLICATION: 
To avoid subsequent injury to desirable crops, thoroughly clean al mixing 
and spray equipment immediately after application 01 ACCENT: 
t. Drain tank; thoroughly rinse spray tank, boom and hoses with clean 
water. Loosen and physically remove any visible deposijs. 
2. Fill the tank with clean water, while adding 1 gallon household 
ammonia (contains 3% active) (') !or every 100 gal. of waler. Flush the 
boom, hoses and nozzles with cleaning solutIOn, then add more water 
to completely fill the tank. Circulate the cleaning solution through the 
tank and hoses lor at least 15 minutes. Flush the tank, boorn and 
hoses w,lh the cleaning solullon and dra,n tank.
