( DIRECTIONS FOR USE Page 5 of 25 Eradicane Extra RS-082289 It is a violation of Feder8i l&w to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling. t . .. 1.-. ERADlCANE EXTRA is a 6ec~tve herbicide which must be mixed (incorporated) into the soil for contra'! Itt weeds listed cn this label. ERADlCANE EXTRA controls weeds by inrerfering with normal germination and seedling development. ERADICANE EXTRA does not contrDI established weeds . . APPLICATION DIRECTIONS Pour the recommended amount of ERADICANE EXTRA into the spray tank during the filling operation. Apply in 10 to 50 gallons of water per acre using a properly calibrated. low-pressure sprayer having good agitation. The soil should be well-worked and dry enough to permit good soil mixing (incorporation). See Appendix I for soil mixing directions. For band applications calculate the amount to be applied per acre as follows: Band Width in Inches Row Width in Inches x Rate/A for Broadcast Treatment COMBINATION WITH FLUID FERTILIZERS

Amount Needed for Band Treatment ERADICANE EXTRA may be combined with fluid (solution. slurry or suspension) fertilizers. However, physical compatibility with these fertilizers must be verified before combining in the spray tank. See Appendix II for special directions regarding these combinations. Even though ERADICANE EXTRA may be found compatible with fluid fertilizers, constant agitation is necessary to maintain uniformity of this mixture during application. IMPREGNATION ON DRY BULK FERTILIZERS ERADICANE EXTRA may be fertilizer is spread. regarding impregnation impregnated on dry fertilizer and applied as the ee Appendix III for information and directions and use of these combinations. CElER PIVOT SPRINKLER AI PLICATION Apply this product only through center pivot sprinkler irrigation.syrtms. Dr Dot apply this product through any other type of irrigation system. Crop injury, lack of effectiveness, or illegal pesticide residues ill the LlP can result from nonuinform distribution of treated water. If you have questions about calibration, you should contact State ExtensiLn Service specialists. equipment manufacturers or other experts. It .is important that application and incorporation be done immediately after he last tillage operation since poor results will occur if the weeds have germinated before application of the herbicide. Meter the ERADICANE EXTRA or tank mix combi-nations with ATRAZINE or BLADEX into the irrigation water during the er-tire period. Apply in 1/2 to 3/4 inches of water. USE PRECAUTIot:S The system must contain a fur-ctional check valve, vacuum relief valve, and low pressure drain appropriately located on the irrigation pipeline to prevent water source contaminatic from backflow. The pesticide injection pipeline must als) contain a functional, normally closed, solenoid-operated valve located on the intake side of the injection pump and connected to the system interlock to prevent fluid from being withdrawn from the supply tank when the irrigation system is either automatically or manually shut down. The system must contain functional interlocking controls to automatically shut off the pesticide injection pump when the water pump motor stops. The irrigation line or water pump must include a functional pressure switch which will stop the water pump motor when the water pressure decreases to the point where pesticide distribution is adversely affected. Systems must use a metering pump, such as a positive displacement injection pmp (e.g., diaphragm pump) effectively designed and cnstructed of materials that are compatible with pesticides and capable of being fitted with a system interlock. Application of more than recommended quantit1.es of irrigation water per acre may result in decreased product performance by removing the chemical from the zone of effectiveness. Do not apply when wind speed favors drift beyond the area intendpu 'or treatment, when system connections or fittings leak, when nozzle do ~ot provide uniform distribution or when lines containing the product ~J3t be dismantled and drained. G-·,ater accuracy in calibration and distribution will be achieved y injectig a .arger volume of a more dilute slurry per hour. L ~ESl IUJUIl( C8f\f

( APPENDIX II ( 'age 17 of 25 Eradicane Extra RS-082289 PROCEDUR FOR TESTING THE COMPATIBILITY OF ERAtIC E EXTRA WITH FLUID FERTILIZERS . I'· . The following prOCedijre( is;:sggested for determining whether ERADICANE EXTRA .. y be combined with a .pific fluid fertilizer for .pray tank application. MATERIALS REQUIRED:

  1. ERADICANE EXTRA
  2. Fluid fertilizer to be used.
  3. Adjuvant for fertilizer tank mix: Compex., Sponto 168-0*, Unite*, or equivalent. The adjuvant which plovides the best emulsification depends on the specific fertilizer under consideration. *Compex, Kalo Laboratories Inc., Kansas City, Hissouri; Sponto 168-0, Witco Chemical Company, Houston, Texas; Unite, Hopkins Agricultural Chemical Co., Hadison, Wisconsin.
  4. Two one-quart, wide-mouth glass jars with lid or stopper.
  5. Heasuring spoons (a 25 ml pipette or graduated cylinder provides more accurate measurement).
  6. Heasuring Clip, 8 oz. (237 ml). PROCEDURE:
  7. Pour a pint (about 473 ml) of the fluid fertilizer into each of the quart jars.
  8. Add adjuvant to one of the jars and mix (see rate table on reverse side).
  9. Add the ERADICANE EXTRA to both jars (see rate table on reverse side).
  10. Close both· jars with lid or stopper and mix the contents by turning the jars upside down ten times.
  11. Inspect the surface and body of the mixtures - (A) Immediately after completing the jar inversions. (B) After allowing the jars to stand quietly for 30 minutes. (C) And then again after turning the jars upside down 10 ti~~~. { lEST &faIUILE cih. J

( ( Page 18 of 25 Eradicane Extra llS-082289 If a uniform mix cannot be made, the miXlure should not be used. If either mixture remains uniform for 30 minutes, the combination may be used. Should either m1xture Feparatelaflerl30 mintes, but readily remix uniformly with ten jar inversions, the mix,ur! can·be used if adequate agitation is maiotained in the tank. If the mixtule til;h adjuvant is satisfactory, but the one vithout adjuvant is not, be ,urt t9 us the adjuvant in the spray tank. Add the adjuvant first at a ratt or 3 pints per 100 gallons of fluid fertilizer; foa.ing can be minimized hY using moderate agitation. If nondispersible oil, sludge"or clumps of solids form in the ixtures, the combination should not be used. NOTE 1: For some combinations, premixing wettable powders in a U.ttle water in a pail before adding them to the spray tank will improve the compatibility of the final mixtures with ERADICANE EXTRA. This technique can be tested in the small-scale jar test by prem1x1ng the wettable powder in one-eighth (1/8) cup of water prior to additior to the pint of fluid fertilier. " IMPR{CNATION ON DRY BULK FERTILIZERS CAUTION: ERADICANE EXTRA alone or in combination with other herbicides must not be impregnated on ammonium nitrate. potassium nitrate or sodium nitrate fertilizers. Such mixtures may cause explosion and fire. All individual state regulations relating to bulk dry fertilizer blending. registration. labeling and application are the responsibility of the individual and/or company selling the ERADICANE EXTRA or ERADICANE EXTRA/ATRAZINE (4L or BOW) and/or BLADEX (4L or BO) and fertilizer mixtures. ERADICANE EXTRA alone and in combination with ATRAZINE and/or BLADEX may be impregnated on many dry bulk fertilizers (1)(2) and applied and incorporated in the soil before planting for the control of grass and broadleaf weeds in corn. Test results ha'e shown that ERADICANE EXTRA. ERADICANE EXTRA/ATRAZINE (4L or B'W) and/or BLADEX (4L or BOw) on many dry bulk fertilizers give weed control ual to ERADICANE EXTRA or a tank ~ix of ERADICANE EXTRA/ATRAZINE (4L or BOW) and/or BLADEX (4L or BOW) applied as a spray in water or liquid fertilizer. However. uniform impregnation of the pesticides on the dry fertilizer particles and uniform applica-tion in the field are necessary to assure good results. A minimum of 200 pounds and a maximum of 700 pounds of approved ingredients (1)(2) impregnated with the appropriate amount of ERADICANE EXTRA alone or in combination with ATRAZINE (4L or BOW) and/or BLADEX (4L or BOW) must be applied per acre. For impregnating the pesticides on dry fertilizers. use a closed rotary-drum mixer or a similar type of closed blender equipped with suitable spray equipment. The spray nozzle should be positioned inside of the mixer to provide uniform spray coverage of the tumbling fertilizer. The ERADICANE EXTRA should be sprayed uniformly onto the fertilizer using a fine spray pattern. For the ERADICANE EXTRA/ ATRAZINE or ERADICANE EXTRA/BLADEX combination product, the ATRAZINE (4L or BOW) and/or BLADEX (4L or BOW) can be added nd mixed uniformly with the fertilizer prior to the ERADICANE EXTRA addition, or· alternately, the ERADICANE EXTRA/ATRAZINE (4L or 80W) and/or BLADEX (4L or·Ca::) can be mixed in the proposed use ratio tC' prepare a uniform slurty il)r joih. spray ilD)regnation. The physical properties of fertilizers vary, particularly in liquiJ asorptive capacity. When absorptivity is sufficient. simple spray impregntn of the fertilizer with ERADICANE EXTRA. ERADICANE EXTRA/ATRAZINE (4L or 8'JW). and/or BLADEX (4L or BOW) provides a satisfactory, dry mixture.

( ( Page 20 of 25 Eradicane Extra RS-062289 If the absorptive capacity is not adequate, use of a drying agent is required to provide dry, free-flowi,ng lDixtures. j 1 \ For lDixtures to silicate powder drying agent. be u6einisPinning-diSC applicators, Hicrocel E calciulD (Hanville'~~iltration & Minerals) is recommended for use as a , "i • For lDixtures to be uked in pneumatic applicators, Hicrocel E or Agsorb 16/30 RVH-HS granular-clay (Ol-Dri.Corporation) or CelatolD HP-79 (Eagle-Picher Industries, Inc.) is recommended for use a~ the drying agent. The drying agent should be added separately and uniformly to the prepared pesticide-fertilizer lDixture, in a quantity that is sufficient to provide a suitably free-flowing mixture. Generally, less than 2% Hicrocel E or 5% Agsorb 16/30 RVM-MS and 5% Celatom MP-79 by weight is required. The amount of ERADICANE EXTRA, ERADICANE EXTRA/ATRAZINE (4L or 80W) and/or BLADEX (4L or 80W) actually required in the manufacture of individual fertilizer lDixtures should be determined carefully fr each production operation. This is necessary to ensure that the amount of pesticides actually contained in the mixture applied to :he soil represents the correct rate of use. Bulk fertilizer impregnated with ERADICANE EXTRA, ERADICANE EXTRA/ATRAZINE (4L or 80W) and/or BLADEX (4L or 80W) should be applied immediately, not stored. It is recommended that all bulk containers be tightly covered while the product is being transported and applied to reduce chances of ERADICANE EXTRA loss via volatilization. When application and incorporation are done in separate operaions, ERADICANE EXTRA impregnated on the dry fertilizer must be ifiorporated on the same day as applied. Application must be made on a dry soi:, surace (at least 1/2 inch deep) free frem dew and incidental moisture. (Kefer to special intructions for suppression of Wild Cane.)
