The labeling cited above and submitted in connection with registration under the 
Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), as amended, is accepted 
subject to the comments reflected on the enclosed sheet. A copy of your proposed labeling 
stamped "ACCEPTED WI1lI COMMENTS" is enclosed. 
WHAT lHIS ACCEPTANCE MEANS: 
Based on your certification, the Agency has accepted the labeling changes that are 
necessary to comply with the Worker Protection Standard (WPS) labeling requirements of 
40 CFR part 156, subpart K., described in PR Notices 93-7 and 93-11. Any other labeling 
changes submitted in connection with this amendment application but not directly related 
to compliance with the WPS have not been reviewed or accepted by the Agency. If you 
wish to make s1lch changes, you must submit a separate amendment application proposing 
them. If your product is currently suspended, the acceptance of this labeling amendment 
does not affect the suspension in any way.

By the next label printing make all the specified changes to your labeling. Send to 
EPA one (1) copy of the final printed labeling:

Pesticide Disposal 
PesticK:le wastes are toxic. Improper disposal 01 excess pesticide, 
spray mixture, or rinsate is a violation of Fedent law. 'f these 
wastes cannot be disposed of by use according to label instruc· 
tions, contact your State Pesticide or Environmental Control 
Agency or the Hazardous Wasta representativB at the nearest 
EPA Regional Office for guidance. 
Conbliner Disposal 
Triple ;insa (or equivalent). Then offer for recycling or recondition­
ing, or puncture and dispose of in a sanitary landfill or by inciner­
at;on, or. ~ allowed by State and local authorities, by burning. If 
toUmed, stay QUI of smoke. 
Returnable/Refillable Sealed Containers 
Do not rinse container. Do not empty remaining formulated prod­
uct. Do not break seals. Retum intact to point of purchase.

SPRAYER CLEANUP 
Do not drain or flush equipment on or near desirable trees or other plants, 
or in areas where their roots may extend or in locations where the 
chemical may be washed or move i"to contact with their roots. Do not 
contaminate any body of water includong irrigation water that may be used 
on other crops. carefully follow sprayer clean-up instructions noled below 
to prevent spray tank residues Irom damaging other crops. 
Sprayer equipment should be thoroughly rinsed to remove residues of 
herbicide that might injure other subsequently sprayed trops. The steps 
below should be followed for the thorough rinSing 01 spray equipment 
following applications 0' Command 4 EC herbicide or tank mixes of 
Command 4 EC with other labeled products. 
1) Drain any remaining spray solution from tank, pump, hoses and boom 
and discard in an approved manner (See Nofe that follows). 
2) Clean tank and fittings by: 
o Thoroughly hosing down the inside walts of the spray tank with a 
quantitY" r:I water equal to 'I. of the tofal tank capacity and operating 
the pump to circulate this solution through the sprayer system for 15 
mirutes. 
o Washing down the outside surfaces of equipment. 
• Removing nozzle tip and screen from end nozzle in each boom 
section and allowing several gallons of rinsate solution to flush 
completely through boom (coltect oinsate while flushing). 
3) Thoroughly dratn remaining rinsate sofution from tank, pump and 
hoses. Combine with boom flushing and dispose 01 aU rinsates from 
this first rinsing in an approved manner (sea Note lhat fof1ows). 
• When switching from walar dilutions to application. ut~izing crop oil 
or Hquid fertilizer as a carrier. a sma. volume 01 crop oil or liquid 
fenillzer should be flushed through the tank, pump, hoses, and 
boom prior to the next use. Dispose 01 crop oil or liquid fanilizer 
rinsate in an approved manner (see Note for local, state and federal 
guidelines). 
4) Remove the remaining noule tips, aod screens and the line filter and 
wash in a patl of warm soapy water, thoroughly rinse and reptace. 
S) Hose down the inside walls of Ihe sp~ay lank a second lime and cir· 
culate this soauUon usmg the same procedure as noted in .2 above.

GENERAL MIXING INSTRUCTIONS 
Care must be laken when mixing Corn.nand 4 EC herbicide. Avoid mllong 
in areas adjacenlto desirable plants (See Seclion headed "IMPORTANT") 
Command 4 EC Alone: Mix Command 4 EC with waler or liquid lertiNzer 
in the following manner. Fin the spray tank one-half to Ihree-fourths lui with 
waler or liquid fertilizer, add !he _ amount of Command 4 EC, lhen 
add lhe resl of lhe waler or liquid fertiWzer. Provide sufficienl agila-lion 
during mixing and application to maintain a uniform spray mixture.

Mix Ihoroughly and lill lank one-half full continuing agilation. Add 
Command 4 EC herbicide 10 lank while mainlaining agilalion. Com-plele 
filling the sprayer tank with water. Where use of a surfactant is 
recommended. add as the last ingredient to the spray tank. Maintain 
agilalion during filling, mixing and applicalion. When using drih reducing 
addilives, follow specifIC producl label inSlruclions for !he order 0/ addilion 
0/ all ploducts 10 lhe splay lank.Fertilizer Spray Mixtures: Applicalions of 
Command 4 EC alone, or with recommended lank mixtures, in conjunclion 
with fert~izer soIulions may be used unfess use directions specifically slale

Under some conditions, temporary whitening or yellowing 01 leaves may 
occur on approved rotational crops where undesirable soil residues of 
Command 4 EC exist. 
Under abnolmaJ conditions, carryover injury to rotational crops can occur. 
The loIlowing factors can conlribute 10 increased risk 01 injury to rOlalional 
crops: 
1) Exceeding label recommended rales. 
2) Overapplication resuhing from use of worn nOlzles, excessive over­
lapping 01 spray swaths, laiing to shut off spray booms when turning 
(end row areas), or slowing or stopping sprayer. 
3) Soif with pH less than or equal to 5.9. 
4) Extreme dryness in the lour monlhs following application., 
5) Use 01 organophosphate soil insecticide followed by use of some 
poslemergence corn herbicides. 
6) Choice of rotational crop hybrid. 
Addilional recommendations to prevent rotational crop injury may be pro­
vided in the form of service buHelins for location where risk of injury is 
signnicantly increased due to extremely dry condilions. 
GENERAL APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS 
Ground Applications

Inches is required unless the soil is dry. On dry soils, incorporation to a 
maximum depth 01 3 inches must be compIeled w'lhin 8 hours 01 C0m­
mand 4 EC herbicide application. 
Soil must be in good lilth 10 allow lor thorough mixing of the soil. Do not 
apply under dry, windy conditions which allow movemenl 01 soil from 
treated areas. Do not apply under wet soil conditions. Application to wet 
soils will increase the polentiallor off-site movement 01 Command 4 EC 
herbicide vapors and may result in poor soil incorporation and 
unsatisfaclory weed control.

of incorporating Command 4 EC (i.e., "DriN 'N Drag"'" type equipment). 
Thelollowing conditions apply: 
1) Drils which result in incorporation, including Great Plains· Drills, Ty" 
Drifls and Crustbuste" Drills which are equipped with fluted or rippled 
couhers and spring tines or harrows may be used. John Deer .. Drils 
may be used but must employ spring tines or the equivalenl 10 
enhance incorporation Drills should be operated at speeds greater 
than 6 mph to ensure enough soil is moved to incorporate Command 
4 EC. Other minimum-tililno-till drifl equipment may be used for "Drill 
and Drag" application of Command 4 EC herbicide as long as their 
operation resuhs in soil mixing. 
2) When utilizing the "DriI and Drag" technique DO NOT APPLY C0m­
mand 4 EC herbicide wilhin 1,000 feel of subdivisions and towns, 
commercial vegetable production (except sweet corn) commercial 
fruil production commercial nurseries and commercial greenhouses. 
Caution must be laker> to minimize spray drift as off-site movement of 
Command herbicide can cause foliar whitening or yellowing of some

3) Where soybean planting and Command 4 EC application using the 
"Drill and Drag" technique is nol a one-pass operation, <f'~ling of soy­

PEPPERS 
GENERAL INFORMATION 
Command 4 EC herbicide may be utilized as a soil applied treatment 
prior to weed emergence, for the control of annual grass and broadeaf 
weeds in bell, hot, pimento and sweet peppers. Do not use on banana 
peppers_ 
Make a single herbicide application in a minimum of 10 galoos of water 
per acre at the rate shown in the application rate table. Apply to the SOil 
surta.e prior to seeding or transptantir,g of peppers and incorporate to a 
depth of l-rnch or tess. Place seed, or roots of the transplants, below the 
chemical barrier when planting. 
Command 4 EC must be soil incorr",ated in the following states unless 
an approved 24(c) pennining otherwise is on fite within that state (check 
with your local deater): Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, 
Maine, Maryland. MassachuseUs, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hamp­
shire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Ver­
mont, Virgtnia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. 
Command 4 EC herbicide may be tank mixed with other herbicides reg­
istered for use in peppers to broaden the weed control spectrum com­
pared to the products applied atone. When applying mixtures of 
Command 4 EC plus other betf and non-bell pepper herbicides, observe 
all cautions and limitations appearing on the labels of each product. 
Observe all applicalion precautions, rotatlonat ('Uidelines and replanting 
instructions of each product's label when using tank mixes. Water or 
liquid fertilizer may be used as a carrier for Command 4 EC when applied 
alone, or when tank mixed with other pepper herbicides unless lJ~e direc­

REPLANTING INSTRUCTIONS 
If initial seeding or transplants fa~ to produce a uniform stand, peppers 
may be replanted in a frefd treat"': with Command 4 EC alone. Do not 
retreat field with a second application of Command 4 EC. When tank 
mixing with a labeled product, refer 10 the replant instructions for lhat
