Long term and continued use of trifluralin has resulted in the selection of tolerant populations in certain species of weeds.
This situation is limited to a few weeds and is generally geographically specific. Weed species known to have some
trifluralin tolerant populations are goosegrass, green foxtail (pigeongrass) and Palmer amaranthus (Palmer pigweed).
BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE is not recommended for the control of go osegrass, tolerant green foxtail or Palmer
amaranthus. Consult State Agri cultural Extension Service or Experiment Stati on weed specialist for specific directions for
local weed problems.
WEED RESISTANCE-MANAGEMENT
For resistance management, BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE is a trifluralin Group 3 herbicide. Any weed population may
contain or develop plants naturally resistant to BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE and other Group 3 herbicides. The resistant
biotypes may dominate the weed population if these herbicides are used repeatedly in the same field. Appropriate
resistance management strategies should be followed.
To delay herbicide resistance, take one or more of the following steps:
Filename: Bayonet 2 Soil Herbicide (5905-554) 060826 CLN 5
x Rotate the use of BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE or other Group 3 herbicides within a growing season sequence or
among growing seasons with different herbicide groups that control the same weeds in a field.
x Use tank mixtures with herbicides from a different group if such use is permitted; where information on resistance in
target weed species is available, use the less resistance-prone partner at a rate that will control the target weed(s)
equally as well as the more resistance-prone partner. Consult your local extension service or certified crop advisor if
you are unsure as to which active ingredient is currently less prone to resistance.
x Adopt an integrated weed-management program for herbicide use that includes scouting and uses historical
information related to herbicide use and crop rotation, and that considers tillage (or other mechanical control
methods), cultural (e.g., higher crop seeding rates; precision fertilizer application method and timing to favor the
crop and not the weeds), biological (weed-competitive crops or varieties) and other management practices.
x Scout after herbicide application to monitor weed populations for early signs of resistance development. Indicators
of possible herbicide resistance include: (1) failure to control a weed species normally controlled by the herbicide at
the dose applied, especially if control is achieved on adjacent weeds; (2) a spreading patch of non-controlled plants
of a particular weed species; (3) surviving plants mixed with controlled individuals of the same species. If resistance
is suspected, prevent weed seed production in the affected area by an alternative herbicide from a different group
or by a mechanical method such as hoeing or tillage. Prevent movement of resistant weed seeds to other fields by
cleaning harvesting and tillage equipment when moving between fields and planting clean seed.
x If a weed pest population continues to progress after treatment with this product, discontinue use of this product,
and switch to another management strategy or herbicide with a different mode of action, if available.
x Contact your local extension specialist or certified crop advisors for additional pesticide resistance-management
and/or integrated weed-management recommendations for specific crops and weed biotypes.
x For further information or to report suspected resistance, contact Helena Agri-Enterprises, LLC representatives at
901-761-0050.
Fields should be scouted prior to application to identify the weed species present and their growth stage to determine if the
intended application will be effective.
Fields should be scouted after application to verify that the treatment was effective.
Suspected herbicide-resistant weeds may be identified by these indicators:
x Failure to control a weed species normally controlled by the herbicide at the dose applied, especially if control is
achieved on adjacent weeds;
x A spreading patch of non-controlled plants of a particular weed species; and
x Surviving plants mixed with controlled individuals of the same species.
Report any incidence of non-performance of this product against a particular weed species to your Helena Agri-Enterprises
representative or call 901-761-0050. If resistance is suspected, treat weed escapes with an herbicide having a different
mechanism of action and/or use non-chemical means to remove escapes, as practical, with the goal of preventing further
seed production.
Plant into weed-free fields and keep fields as weed-free as possible.
To the extent possible, use a diversified approach toward weed management. Whenever possible incorporate multiple
weed-control practices such as mechanical cultivation, biological management practices, and crop rotation.
Filename: Bayonet 2 Soil Herbicide (5905-554) 060826 CLN 6
Fields with difficult to control weeds should be rotated to crops that allow the use of herbicides with alternative mechanisms
of action or different management practices.
To the extent possible DO NOT allow weed escapes to produce seeds, roots or tubers. Manage weed seeds at harvest and
post-harvest to prevent a buildup of the weed seedbank.
Prevent field-to-field and within-field movement of weed seed or vegetative propagules. Thoroughly clean plant residues
from equipment before leaving fields.
Prevent an influx of weeds into the field by managing field borders.
Identify weeds present in the field through scouting and field history and understand their biology. The weed-control
program should consider all of the weeds present.
Difficult to control weeds may require sequential applications of herbicides with differing mechanisms of action.
Apply this herbicide at the correct timing and rate needed to control the most difficult weed in the field.
Use a broad-spectrum soil-applied herbicide with a mechanism of action that differs from this product as a foundation in a
weed-control program. DO NOT use more than two applications of this or any other herbicide with the same mechanism of
action within a single growing season unless mixed with an herbicide with another mechanism of action with an overlapping
spectrum for the difficult-to-control weeds.
Integrated Pest (Weed)
Management
BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE may be integrated into an overall weed and pest management strategy. Practices known to
reduce weed development (till- age, crop competition) and herbicide use (weed scouting, proper application timing, banding
and rotations) should be followed wherever possible. Consult local agricultural and weed authorities for additional Integrated
Pest Management strategies established for your area.
GENERAL SOIL CONDITIONS AND PREPARATION
To enable the proper operation of appl ication and incorporation equipment in or der to insure uniform distribution and
incorporation of BAYONET 2, soil surface should be smooth as possible. Interference can be caused by ground cover such
as crop residue or existing weeds. Soil should be tilled prior to the application of BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE to allow
uniform incorporation into the top 2 to 3 inches of soil. Duri ng incorporation process, soil moisture should be sufficient
enough for large clods to broken up.
Crop Residues or Existing Weeds
Ground cover, such as crop residues or existing weeds, can interfere with the incorporation of BAYONET 2 SOIL
HERBICIDE into the soil. A manageable level of such ground cover will allow the BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE to be
uniformly incorporated into the top 2 to 3 inches of soil. If the level of the ground cover is such that this cannot be done, you
must till the soil prior to the application of BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE.
Filename: Bayonet 2 Soil Herbicide (5905-554) 060826 CLN 7
SOIL TEXTURE
Before application determine soil texture in order to apply the correct rate. Rates given refer to the fo llowing soil texture
groups:
COARSE: Sand, Loamy sand, Sandy loam
MEDIUM: Loam, Silt, Silty clay loam, Silt loam, Sandy clay loam
FINE: Clay, Clay loam, Silty clay loam, Silty clay, Sandy clay,
Sandy clay loam
Silty clay loam and sandy clay loam soils are transitional soils and may be classified as either medium or fine textured soils.
If silty clay loam or sandy clay loam soils are predominantly sand or silt, they are usually classified as medium textured
soils. If they are predominantly clay, they are usually classified as fine textured soils. A fine textured soil will require a
higher application rate than a coarse textured soil. DO NOT exceed directed rates.
GENERAL PRECAUTIONS AND RESTRICTIONS
BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE will not harm the treated crop under normal growing conditions and if applied according to
directions. Crop injury or soil residue may result from over application. Uneven application or improper soil incorporation of
BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE , could result in erratic weed control or crop injury . Seedling disease, cold weather, deep
planting, excessive moisture, high salt concentration or drought may weaken crop seedlings and increase the possibility of
damage from BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE. Under these conditions, delayed crop development or reduce yields may
result.
Where specific crop directions are not given, use the lower rate for coarser soils or soils with lower organic matter. For soils
containing 10% or more organic matter DO NOT use BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE.
In Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming, after a
spring application of BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE , sugarbeets, red beets or spinach should not be planted for 12
months or 14 months after fall application. Soil should be plowed to a depth of 12 inches prior to planting these crops to
reduce the possibility of crop injury. If land has not been irrigated, DO NOT plant any of these crops for 18 months after a
spring application or 20 months after a fall application of BAYONET 2 SOIL HERIBICIDE.
In all other areas, sugarbeets, red beets and spinach should not be planted for 12 months after a spring application or 14
months after a fall application. Before planting sugarbeets, moldboard plow to a depth of 12 inches to reduce the possibility
of crop injury.
Proso millet, corn, sorghum (milo), oats and annual or perennial grass crops or grass mixtures should not be planted for 12
months after a spring application or 14 months after fall application in the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado,
Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming after a spring application of BAYONET 2
SOIL HERBICIDE. If land has not been irrigated, these crops should not be planted for 18 months after a spring application
or 20 months after a fall application. Moldboard plowing to depth of 12 inches before planting these crops will reduce the
possibility of crop injury.
In Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota proso millet, sorghum (milo), oats and annual or perennial grass crops or
grass mixtures should not be planted for 18 months after a spring application or 21 months after a fall application of
BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE.
Filename: Bayonet 2 Soil Herbicide (5905-554) 060826 CLN 8
In those areas of Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas where at least 20 inches of rain/irrigation (total) was used to
produce the crop, sorghum or oats should not be planted for 12 months after a spring application or 14 months after a fall
application of BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE.
DO NOT plant sorghum, proso millet or oats for 18 months after an application of BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE if less
than 20 inches of total water was used to produce the crop. Cool, wet weather conditions during the early stage of growth
may increase the possibility of injury to sorghum.
Vegetable crops other than those listed on this label for preplant soil incorporated application of BAYONET 2 SOIL
HERBICIDE should not be planted within 5 months following the application of BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE or other
trifluralin products.
APPLICATION DIRECTIONS
Aerial/Ground Application
BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE may be applied with ground or aerial broa dcast application equipment. Apply only with
equipment capable of accurate calibration and uniform applicatio n of herbicide granules. Once properly calibrated the
granular distributor should be checked regular ly to assure proper operating condition. DO NOT apply BAYONET 2 SOIL
HERBICIDE in narrow bands. Apply at the recommended rate for soil texture class to be treated.
INCORPORATION DIRECTIONS
BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE is a preemergence herbicide for control of many annual grasses and broadleaf weeds. Two
incorporation passes are required. The first pass should occu r within 24 hours after application. The second incorporation
should be delayed 3 to 5 days after the first and be completed pr ior to planting in order to obtain the best results. A
minimum delay of 7 days after the firs t incorporation is recommended for cert ain uses in small grains. The second
incorporation pass should occur in a differ ent direction than the first. Incorporate BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE uniformly
into the top 2 to 3 inches of the final seedbed. Set equipment so that the second incorporation pass is not deeper than the
first as erratic weed control may result if untreated soil is moved to the surface during the second incorporation pass.
After Planting
For directions after planting check label under specific crop.
Bedded Culture
BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE needs to be incorporated into the top 2 to 3 inches of the final seedbed for effective weed
control.
Application Prior to Bedding
Apply BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE prior to bedding and incorporate it with recommended equipment. The bedding
operation serves as the second incorporation. Avoid removal of untreated soil from the seedbed before or during the
planting operation. This would expose untreated soil, allowing weeds to germinate in the drill row.
Application After Bedding
Knock off beds to planting height before application and incorporate BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE with recommended
equipment that will conform to the bed shape. DO NOT leave untreated soil exposed. Avoid removal of untreated soil from
the seedbed before or during the planting operation. This wo uld expose untreated soil, allowing weeds to germinate in the
drill row.
Filename: Bayonet 2 Soil Herbicide (5905-554) 060826 CLN 9
Cultivation After Planting
Deep cultivation that could bring untreated soil to the soil surface and result in loss of weed control should be avoided.
Areas treated with BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE may be shallowly cultivated without loss of weed control activity.
Recommended Equipment
Any recommended incorporation equipment may be used alone or in combination with any other recommended equipment.
Two incorporation passes are necessary unless specifically stated. The second incorporation should not be deeper than
the first.
Disc: Set to cut 4 to 6 inches deep and operate at 4 to 6 mph.
Chisel Plow: (For use in Northern Great Plains) The chisel plow may be used for the first incorporation pass only. Any
other recommended incorporation equipment may be used for the second pass for row crops. The chisel plow may be used
for any tillage or incorporation pass in the summer fallow program. Operate chisel plow 4 to 5 inches deep at 4 to 6 mph. A
chisel plow is defined as having 3 rows of 14 to 18 inch sweeps spaced no more than 12 inches apart. Sweeps should be
staggered so that no soil is left unturned. Chisel points should not be used.
Field Cultivator: Defined as implements with sweeps of 3 to 4 rows spaced at intervals of 7 inches or less, staggered so
that no soil is left unturned. Set to cut 3 to 4 inches deep and operate at 5 mph or more. DO NOT use chisel points.
Combination Seedbed Conditioners: Set to cut 3 to 4 inches deep and operate at a speed of at least 5 mph. These are
defined as three or more tillage devises combined and used as a single tool. For example, 2 to 3 rows of field cultivator C-
or S-shaped shanks with an effective sweep spacing of 6 to 9 inc hes (staggered so that no soil is left unturned), followed by
a spike tooth or flextime harrow, followed by a ground driven reel or basket.
Rolling Cultivator: Set to cut 2 to 4 inches deep and operate at a spee d of 6 to 8 mph. Rolling cultivators are effective for
use on coarse and medium textured soils. The rolling cultivator may be used on fine textured soils when used in sugarcane.
Bed Conditioner (Do-All): Set to cut 2 to 4 inches deep and operate at a speed of 4 to 6 mph. The Do-All is effective
when used on coarse or medium textured soils only. Only one incorporation pass is necessary in bedded culture. Two
passes with the Do-All are necessary in flat planted culture.
Mulch Treader (other similar disc-type implements): Set Mulch Treader to cut 3 to 4 inches deep and operate at 5 to 8
mph.
P.T.O. Driven Equipment (til lers, cultivators, hoes): Only one incorporation is re quired. Adjust to incorporate
BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE into the top 2 to 3 inches of the seedbed using rotors spaced to give a clean sweep of the
soil. P.T.O. equipment should not be operated at a speed greater than 4 mph.
Other Equipment: The flexible tine-tooth harrow (Flextine, Melroe) is also recommended but only for the special usage
specified in this label. Use other equipment only as specified herein.
CROP DIRECTIONS
Apply BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE any time after January 1 when the soil can be worked and is suitable for good
incorporation. All directions are given as the broadcast rates of BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE per acre. For fall application
see specific crop directions for "FALL APPLICATION" heading.

FALL APPLICATION (GENERAL)
These comments apply to areas receiving more than 20 inches average annual rainfall and for crops where BAYONET 2
SOIL HERBICIDE is recommended for preemergence usage, but no specific fall application directions given. If specific fall
application rates are not given, use BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE at rates recommended for spring application. Always
see specific crop directions before using BAYONET 2. NOTE: DO NOT fall apply BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE prior to
planting sugarbeets, potatoes and direct-seeded tomatoes in the spring.
In most states apply and incorporate BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE between October 15 and December 31. In California,
Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE may be applied and incorporated between
September 1 and December 31.
Apply and incorporate on ground left flat or bedded during the winter. If bedded, knock down to proper height prior to
planting, moving some treated soil from bed tops into furrows. If treated soil is left flat for winter, exercise caution in bedding
operations to avoid turning up treated soil. Any weeds establishing as a result of bedding or other operations should be
destroyed before planting. NOTE: BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE should not be applied in the fall to soils which are wet
or subject to prolonged flooding or where rice was grown.
ALFALFA
Established
BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE can be applied to established alfalfa during dormancy or throughout the growing season
immediately after cutting. Apply BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE for control of barnyardgrass, bromegrass (cheatgrass,
downy brome), canarygrass, cheat (chess), crabgrass, woolly cupgrass, foxtail, junglerice, sandbur and wild barley.
Because BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE does not control established weeds, application must be made prior to the
expected time of weed germination.
Apply BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE to established alfalfa stands prior to weed emergence at a rate of 20 pounds per
acre on all soil textures. BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE may be applied using properly calibrated ground or aerial
application equipment. A single rainfall or overhead sprinkler irrigation of 0.5 inches or more or flood irrigation after
application is required to activate BAYONET 2. If this does not occur within three days after application, BAYONET 2 SOIL
HERBICIDE should be activated using incorporation equipment that will ensure thorough soil mixing with minimum damage
to the established alfalfa. If activated using furrow irrigat ion, the surface of the beds between furrows should be thoroughly
wetted.
Fall Application
Apply BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE immediately after a cutting between August 1 and October 1. When fall applied
BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE controls bromegrass and cheat in addition to other weeds list above that germinate after
application. Bromegrass and cheat begin to germinate in the fall with the onset of cooler weather.
Suppression of the parasitic weed, dodder (California Only)
Apply BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE at 20 pounds per acre in late dormancy as a new growth resumes. A second 20
pound per acre treatment may be required where dodder infection is severe and should be preceded by a least two normal
cutting cycles or 60 days of active alfalfa growth.
RESTRICTIONS
x DO NOT exceed 20 pounds per acre in any one application and DO NOT exceed 40 pounds per acre in any one
year.

herbicide. BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE does not control established weeds. DO NOT apply BAYONET 2 SOIL
HERBICIDE to sweet corn or corn grown for seed. NOTE: DO NOT apply BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE as a preplant or
preemergence treatment as crop injury may occur.
Soil Preparation and Application Directions
Cultivate before BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE application to insure loose, friable soil to remove established weeds and to
cover the base of plants with soil. Set cultivation equipment to add approximately 1 inch of soil to the base of sorghum
plants. Apply and incorporate BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE as a postemergence treatment at the directed rates for the
soil texture when the crop is well establ ished (8 inches or taller) or immediately after a cultivat ion, up to a height of 30
inches (24 inches for Grain Sorghum). Soil incorporation may be accomplished with only one pass of a sweep-type
cultivator or a properly adjusted rolling cultivator. The swee p-type cultivator should have 3 to 5 sweeps per row middle and

COTTON
Application Timing
BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE may be applied for weed control in cotton in the fall, in the spring before or at planting, after
planting, but prior to crop emergence, and to established cotton up to and including layby, but no later than 90 days before
harvest.
How To Apply
BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE may be applied and soil incorporated or it may be applied to the surface of soil and
watered-in (follow directions for incorporation with overhead sprinkler irrigation in “Minimum Tillage Cotton” section below).
Follow recommended soil preparation, application, and incorpora tion procedures in the “General Information” section of this
label. For fall application, in addition to the direction be low, refer to instructions in the “application Timing” section und er
“General Information”. For layby application, refer to instructions in the “Layby Application” section below.
If incorporating after planting, incorporate BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE soon after planting and set equipment so as to
avoid disturbing planted cottonseed.
For band applications, reduce the application rate in propo rtion to the row spacing and bandwidth treated. For example,
treating a 12-inch band where the row spacin g is 36 inches would require 1/3 of t he recommended broadcast rate per acre
(12 inches divided by 36 inches = 1/3).

†† Fall Application: For Western U.S. including Arizona and California.

the spring application rate, using the high rate where a range is given.
Minimum Tillage Cotton (Conservation Tillage Cotton)
Fall Application Prior to Establishing a Small Grain Cover Crop
Apply BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE at a broadcast rate of 10 to 15 pounds per acre. Use the 15-pound per acre rate
where crop residues are present or where dense weed populations are anticipated. Make applications to flat ground and
incorporate once within 24 hours using incorporation implements such as a springtooth harrow that can be set to cut no
more than 2 to 3 inches deep. DO NOT incorporate with a tandem disc. Form beds with disc bedders or other bedding
implements that will mix and move most of the treated soil from the furrow ar ea to the beds. Fertilizer may be applied as
appropriate during incorporation operations. Plant 2 to 4 rows of a small grain cover crop, such as barley, rye or wheat, 2
inches deep in the furrow area between the beds. To avoid inju ry to small grains seedlings, place seed below the treated
layer of soil. Barley is more tolerant to injury than wheat or rye. Existing soil moisture must be present to establish and
maintain the cover crop. In late winter (February), apply 2,4-D if necessary for broadleaf weed control.
Spring Application Before or After Planting
Apply BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE as a broadcast treatment or as a band to bare ground or standing dead cover
following burndown with a postemergence herbicide. BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE may be applied and incorporated
either before planting or after planting. If applied after planting, incorporate immediately and set incorporation equipment at
a depth that will not disturb the planted seed. If BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE is applied as a band, adapt incorporation
equipment to the width of the treated band and use equipment that will uniformly mix BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE into
the top 1 inch of soil. Be aware, that compared to doubl e-pass incorporation, weed control may be reduced when using
single pass incorporation; or, if using equipment that does not thoroughly mix BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE into the
treated soil.

Incorporation with Overhead Sprinkler Irrigation
BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE may be surface applied in minimum tillage cotton as either a band or broadcast treatment
before or after planting. Because BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE does not control established weeds, planting and
application should occur as soon as possible after the last tillage operation or cultivation, before weeds have germinated.
Surface applied BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE must be activated as soon as possible after application with 0.75 acre inch
or more of uniformly applied overhead sprinkler irrigation. DO NOT delay irrigation past 3 days.

Layby Application
Layby application may be made in established cotton after the 4 true leaf growth stage, but no later than 90 days before
harvest. Apply BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE uniformly to the soil surface using properly calibrated granular application
equipment. Incorporate using one pass of a sweep-type cultivator or properly adjusted rolling cultivator. Operate cultivation
equipment at speeds sufficient to provide vigorous soil mixing, and exercise care to avoid mechanical injury to the crop.
Compared to conventional double pass inc orporation, weed control may be reduced when using single pass incorporation,
or if using equipment that does not provide thorough soil mixing. The layby application rate must not exceed the rate given
in the layby table below for each soil texture.

Precautions: To avoid crop injury, cotton shou ld be planted after early season adve rse weather conditions have passed,
especially when using high rates. Cool, wet weather early in the growth cycle causes stress to the cotton plant. The added
stress may result in reduced stand, delayed maturity, and reduced yields.
Maximum Crop Year Use Rate: For full season weed control, BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE may be applied one or more
times sequentially during the cotton crop year observing the rates, methods of application, and a 90-day preharvest interval.
The maximum dosage must not exceed the rates given, and the maximum cumulative a mount of BAYONET 2 SOIL
HERBICIDE that may be applied within the same crop year (includes fall application, or spring application, and
layby application) must not exceed 20 pounds per acre (2 pounds active ingredient per acre).
Rotation Crop Restrictions: Refer to the “Rotation Crop Restrictions” sect ion under “General Information” for specific
rotational crop restrictions. When the cumulative amount of BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE in one crop year (fall + or
spring + plus layby) exceeds the rates in the table below, plant only those crops for which BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE is
labeled as a preplant incorporated treatment in the season following the application of BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE , or

2. Seeding should be done with a press drill or hoe drill. Seed into a moist seedbed no more than 1 ½ inches deep.
3. Flax should not be seeded until the seedbed has warmed up.
GRAIN SORGHUM (MILO)
BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE may be applied as a postemergence treatment following the use of a preemergence
herbicide. Uniformly apply to the soil surface when grain sorghum is 8 to 24 inches tall. BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE
does not control established weeds.
Soil Preparation
Cultivate before application to remove established weeds and cover the base of plants with soil. Set cultivation equipment
to add approximately one inch of soil to the base of sorghum plants.
Activations and Incorporation Directions
BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE should be incorporated within 24 hours after application. Incorporation may be
accomplished with one pass of a sweep-type cultivator or properly adjusted rolling cultivator. The sweep-type cultivator
should have 3 to 5 sweeps per row middle and be operated at a sped sufficient to provide vigorous soil mixing. Set middle
sweeps so as to avoid exposing untreated soil. Adjust incorporation equipment so as to avoid mechanical injury to the crop.

(Not For Use In the State of Maine)

Apply and incorporate BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE after planting, prior to crop emergence, immediately following dragoff
or after potato plants have fully emerged.
Set incorporation equipment so that the bed and furrow are uniformly covered with a layer of treated soil. If the layer of
treated soil is not uniform and the herbicide is concentrated over the bed, potato emergence may be retarded and stem
brittleness can occur. When applying and incorporating BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE after potato plants have fully
emerged, DO NOT completely cover the foliage with treated soil. DO NOT completely cover foliage during subsequent
cultivations. Be careful that incorporation equipment does not damage seed pieces or elongating sprouts.

SMALL GRAINS - BARLEY, DURUM AND WHEAT
Special Precaution for Use of BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE on Small Grains
Follow carefully the BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE directions for use on small grains to minimize potential crop stress.
Under certain conditions, delayed crop emergence and/or stand reduction may occur when BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE
is applied to small grains. The combined effect of certain cultural practices and unfavorable soil or environmental conditions
may cause excessive crop seedling stress resulting in retarded crop growth, stand reduction and possibly reduced yield.
For best results, observe the following cultural practices or precautions:
Use tillage methods that provide a uniformly firm seedbed and time tillage operations to conserve moisture.
Irrigate prior to planting or after germination and emergence. Moisture received between planting and emergence may
cause crusting, especially on loose, friable seedbeds.
Filename: Bayonet 2 Soil Herbicide (5905-554) 060826 CLN 31
DO NOT exceed recommended application rates for BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE. This is particularly important on
coarse textured or low organic matter soils.
Carefully follow incorporation directions. When applying preplant incorporated treatments, operate equipment at
recommended depth and speed to place BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE into the upper 1 to 1.5 inches of soil. If applied
after planting, set equipment so as to not disturb planted seed.
Set drills to place seed at the depth specified in use directions. A planting depth greater than 2.5 inches for spring wheat
or durum will result in increased seedling stress and decreased emergence.
Where BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE is to be applied use only high quality seed (avoid use of small seed with low starch
reserves).
If seed treatments are used, apply at the correct rate and uniformly across all seeds. Misapplication may result in reduced
germination and/or seedling vigor.
Avoid use of seed varieties known to have poor seedling emergence vigor.
DO NOT apply BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE in the fall in combinations with any other preplant incorporated herbicide.
Soil characteristics and environmental conditions which may contribute to crop seedling stress that may be
accentuated by use of Bayonet 2 Soil Herbicide include:
Soil related: High salinity, eroded knolls/hilltops, loose dry soils and compaction.
Weather related: Cold and/or wet soils, excessively hot soils, excessive moisture, drought and soil crusting from heavy
rainfall.
NOTE: DO NOT apply BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE on small grains where a dinitroaniline herbicide such as
BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE was applied at a rate recommended for row crops (oil seeds) during the previous
growing season.
Incorporation Instructions/Equipment
Special attention must be paid to soil incorporation because unless such is effectively done, BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE
will not provide desired levels of weed control. Use incorporation equipment in the manner described below unless
otherwise specified in incorporation instructions. Any of the following implements listed below may be used for the first
incorporation of BAYONET 2.
Use only the disc or field cultivator for the second incorporation pass and incorporate in a different direction. Poor weed
control may result if untreated soil is moved to the surface during the second incorporation pass. To avoid this, the second
incorporation should not be deeper than the first.
Tandem Disc: Operate at 3 to 4 inches deep at 4 to 6 mph.
Chisel Plow: A chisel plow is defined to have 3 rows of 14 to 18 inch sweeps on no greater than 12 inch centers. Sweeps
should be staggered so that no soil is left unturned. Operate at 4 to 5 inches deep at 4 to 6 mph. NOTE: DO NOT use
Chisel Points.
Field Cultivator: A field cultivator is defined to have 3 to 4 rows of sweeps with C- or S-shaped shanks spread 7 inches or
less, staggered to leave no soil unturned. Operate at 3 to 4 inches deep at 5 mph or more.

Spring Seeded - Summer Fallow Application
Apply and incorporate BAYONET 2 SOIL HERBICIDE to control labeled weeds during summer fallow as well as foxtail

condition is important, application may be made only where trash levels are manageable, land has been fallow, pre-tilled or
left with stubble cover.
Two incorporation are essential for weed control. The first incorporation should be made within 24 hours of application.
The second and all subsequent tillage activities are to be conducted as required to destroy resistant weeds as present.
NOTE: Control of labeled weeds may not occur prior to the second incorporation.
